"You really wanna do this?"
I nod.
"How about we reconsider?" Concern dripped from her words.
I shook my head. There is no going back now.
"Are you for real sure?" She asked again.
"Positive." Giving her a short nod I assured her.
"Nah can't be." Nic stared further."Are these even legal? Ain't government records inaccessible to the locals?" She asks.
My gaze darts up, meeting hers before I sigh and shake my head, fingers tracing down the side of her parcel.
" 'Public government records." I correct her.
"Whatever. But Miss. Brown, as far as the law is conserved, I wouldn't intervene. And wish not to make yourself any exception. Tastes sour." The last sentence was whispered dramatically in my ears.
Rolling my eyes, I went back to unwrapping it.

Nicole POV
I stretched shutting the books. Revisions have been getting my best lately.
Yesterday being the last day of the poster's job left me with more time for now. Fly posting isn't one's dream job until you get extra cream. Aside from regular station visits, getting hands-on case studies by professional lawyers is a good salary. Lawyers are like a vanilla cream and chocolate sprinkle, white on the top and warm at the bottom. One bite and game over. After all, making some extra bucks and scoring a hefty law firm proposal is a good bonus in mortal vision.
Speaking of which, let me honour myself with the substantial chance to enlighten the current situation.
While I was reading through the Constitution, soft snores filled the room. I glanced over at Kenzie who was rolling in her bed. Black hair tousled from sleep, and she still held a book in her hand. Her breathing was even, eyes shut. The covers had been pulled halfway up so I could see the wheatish skin of her neck. She wore a plain blue top. My gaze followed her body down to her legs. One bare knee stuck out above the sheets like a question mark. She looked so peaceful that if not for the fact that she’d fallen asleep reading I would have thought she was dead.
I put away my papers and stood before quietly pulling the sheets from beneath her head.
"Wake up Kenzie! It’s almost ten o’clock!” I gently shook her shoulder.
Eight in the morning, and the doorbell went off. Strange, I wasn't expecting someone. Wait, it could be them. The next room was 'wannabe powerpuff girls'. They have been getting on my nerves. Yesterday they rang for us to help plug in a toaster. The reason, they had wireless toasters back at their residence. Is that even a thing? And this was just one time. By grace, if it's them again, it will be the 69th.
After the 8th ring, I unlocked the door frustrated.
"If you have any..."
"Package delivery." The warden spat looking irritated and signed towards the bedding." Why isn't she picking up?"
"Probably because someone can't make videos amongst caller tunes."
"Wake her up. It's late already." Her emphasis on 'her' is unmistakable.
"Ouch. Did your daughter-in-law pack a cactus in lunch?" I turned around snickering.
"Let me check."
"The package is hers. Is it paid?" Appearing a minute later, I said.
"Why do I trust you? You didn't even say a word."
"Maybe this will help Mrs.CIA." I waved a note in front of her face.
After examining it, she replied, "Hand it to her right now" and handed me the package hesitantly.
"Following the presence of enough evidence, the case was dismissed. Unnecessary protocols aren't welcome." With this, the door slammed shut.
Post-its may be the same as dm'ing. We colour code for its place on the scale of urgency.
"Red. Seems important. She wouldn't mind if I..."
"With all due liberties, I would."
"Oh, sister! It's a miracle! The dead have finally awakened. My eyes. Help! I can't take in this graceful moment of sacred glimmer."
"Theatre costs less than law school."
"Salty enough. What's it anyways?"
Silence. Just the faint sound of steps and my hands felt empty. This girl just got up, took the Yankee-doodle box of mystery from me, and went on to sleep with it. Sorry, Ken. You ain't getting away with this.

Kenzie POV
"It will shatter Nic."
"No darling it won't." I sighed.
"What a fuss over a pair of glasses. I thought it was some top-secret file of CBI and you're an agent. I would get my first case then."
"Don't toss it around please."
"On one condition, let me try these first".Speculating a bit, I agreed.
"These aren't working." She patted it a few times.
"Skin sensors," I concluded in brief.
"Dumb sensors. Still expected from a scholar."
"Appreciate it," I said taking the glasses. Now or never.
'Derma identified. Welcome, Kenzie Walker.' It beeped to life.
"Did it start?" Nicole jumped in excitement.
"Verification is done as well."
"What did it say?"
" 'Derma identified. Welcome, Kenzie Walker.' "
"Woah don't tell me changing your name's that easy."
"The company solely permits a sham name." Clever.
"Criminal tactics, I see." She said swivelling her arms in the air. "Wait, Sherlock Holmes stuff had locks and algorithms right?", was the next question.
"Passwords are for privacy protection. Unpermitted access to confidential data is illegal without one's consent."
"I am confidential. And personal as well."
Lifting the package, I simply gestured towards the words in red.
'PRIVATE', she read and huffed to her bed.
Smiling, I continued with the instructions.
'1. PRIVATE.' My eyes peered at Nic, who is now on the phone.
'2. Type in the personal code to proceed.'
Lightly pressing the frame, I followed. P-W-W-A-I-A...
"Humans can't hear from 50 metres at 30 decibels," I stated.
Huffing again, she turned her back.
"........I-E-A-R-M." After typing in the password, the glasses turned transparent and a screen popped up.
'Access granted. Please continue.'
'Congratulations on the access.'
'3. Voice commanded. Response strictly to subject's voice.'
'4. Allows access to all the database input about an object. Living or not.'
'WARNING- Topic under experimentation.
Any disclosure by subject is at own risk.'
This is the first and last illegal thing am doing, ignoring the mall incident.
Research is important. And it's worth it. I guess.
"You guess what?". I narrowed my eyes confused.
"You said ' I guess.'. Guess what?"
Shut your lid Kenzie. "What?"
"What 'What?' ? You tell me why you said ' I guess.' ".
Baffled I looked at the screen again.
"Due to the low monthly budget, I guess an 'only-noodles-till-the-last-week' plan is appropriate."
Nic smirked. "Why? 'Cause only you can't cook-"
"Dorm entries include the delivery of a custom doughnut box of 70 dollars yesterday." Interrupting her mid-sentence I spoke.
Her eyes widened."$50 ok! And how do you know?"
I pointed towards my nose, sniffing.
"You she-dog-"
"Potential location of doughnuts is estimated under a pillow."
The moment it ended, she pounced at me. Swerving her I made a swift run towards the bed, revealing two boxes with sprinkles drawn on them. Suddenly someone pushed my body aside on the mattress.
"Were the rainbow ones out of stock?" I giggled.
"Yeah, they were. And the cashier was a man so obviously. Men su-...You!". Picking a pillow, she lunged at me.
I kept cackling at her hits until it stopped. "You deserve it, Ken. How did you know about that?", she asks with our faces centimetres apart.
"A checkup needs to be performed. Your redness is not getting any better."
Never knew the government database comprises of school database too. But the reddened face was enough of a distraction.
"NO!" She yelled before squinting her eyes and covering her red cheeks.
Before I could protest, on cue, a duo of girls waddled in laughing loudly with men following them.
"Girls I told you we don't have any of the wireless fridges."
"Wireless what?" The black haired said. Probably in the same disbelief and confusion as me.
"I have never heard of it, otherwise I would have been carrying one right now. How cute would it have looked? Aww" The chubby one exclaimed dusting her skirt off. Those pizza crust nibbles will be difficult to clean.
"Then why are two drunk girls here? Geez, is the warden that busy with a new trend?"
"We're taking over your dorm." The duo said in a sing-song-like way. The emo one in a black skirt and fish nets shoved her hair back.
The fourth slice, I thought of the other.
Wait......
DID WE JUST GET DORM CRASHED?!
