. . . THE CLEAR cubes thunk against the alcohol-filled glass as Klaus finished his third bottle of the silent night. His bloodstained fingertips released the cup letting his head hang low as he thought back to the cocky vampires he ran across. A humourous hum left Klaus as the dead bloodsuckers reminded him of the woman bound to him.
The encounter with the ebony witch left her branded and disgruntled. If she didn't have a strong liking for him when they had first met, she sure didn't have a warm feeling for him now, for he let that witch cut her and tie her to his being.
Klaus thought her dramatics were quite uncalled for a simple ritual, but he didn't care enough to ask her about her feelings at the moment. For he had gotten what he had wanted for a strange, minuscule price.
But Klaus knew that keeping her cooperative could prove advantageous in the long run.
Not because he necessarily cared, however, it wouldn't help for them both to act so savagely around each other. Since they were going to be near each other for an unforeseen amount of time, it'd be best to be on common ground.
So, he concluded that he would be the one to take the high ground, seeing as she couldn't even if she wanted to. Since she was stuck.
Klaus reached over into the secret drawer beneath his desk and clutched the lamp. A sigh left his drunken self as he pursed his lips and stared at the intricate carvings that decorated the outside of the golden vessel. He readied his nerves before reciting the incantation.
The lamp silently tremored as the familiar golden smoke poured out from the inside. He shielded his pupils as the bright light shone once again leaving her silhouette behind. The same scarlet fabric clung to her wide hips as the golden jewelry clung to her tan skin.
A smug smile hung on her lips as she clasped her hands in front of her cleavage. "Back so soon, master?" Her tone dripped with sarcasm.
"I need answers, and I believe you owe me those after the theatrics from earlier," he mindlessly answered her poor greeting as he granted himself another glass of deep brown liquid.
"So, you've summoned me for another meaningless conversation but not a wish," a scoff passed her matte, blushy lips as her arms crossed. "And what makes you think I'll be more forthcoming now? After you let that witch have her way with me?"
Klaus tipped the burning alcohol down his throat before he left the rickety chair, "One, as you heard the witch, we'll be together quite a while until I get what I want." His boots sounded across the floor as he marched toward her with a taunting smile, "And, two... you don't have a choice."
Perhaps his eyes tricked him but he swore that her gold eyes lowered with a hint of sadness. As he waited for another witty response it seemed he'd finally clamped her mouth shut. "Now, as I was saying. I may have a deal for you. As to make it a bit bearable for the moments to come."
Her eyes flickered to meet his deep, icy eyes, "And what deal is that?"
A small smirk appeared on his face before he turned away from her to saunter around the room. "Celeste may have alluded to the fact that for my last wish, I could set you free from your lamp."
The woman belted out a loud cackle only to stop as Klaus gazed at her with slanted eyes. "Oh, you weren't joking?"
The blond male cocked his head, "And why would I be joking?"
"Because there is no reason for you, master, to offer me anything," she explained as she looked upon him with nothing but untrust. "Why would you care? You're using me anyway."
Klaus sighed as he set his gaze upon her, "You could prove yourself to be worthy of my last wish and try not to turn my words against me. You do want to be freed from someone's beck and call, don't you?"
"Of course," she laughed at the obvious question. "It's all I've ever wanted. Well then, hybrid man, as you said there's nothing I can really do but accept. I promise to be on my best behavior."
"Ah, then it seems we have a deal..." Klaus trailed off as he closed the gap between their bodies. "It seems we never got around to introducing ourselves."
The woman flipped her whispy eyelashes as she hesitated slightly, "It's Nora."
"Nora," Klaus tested the wish-giver's name on his tongue. Though he wouldn't admit it on their third meeting, her name matched her magnificent features.
"And yours, Mr. Hybrid?" She begged for reciprocity from the mysterious man. As he knew the basics about her and she knew next to nothing. She felt bare in front of him with a racing heart.
"Klaus... Klaus, is the name love," he purred as she finally clasped his calloused hand. He slightly rubbed her smooth hand before she inevitably pulled back.
"Wait, I have a question. You never told me what hybrid you are," Nora curiously chased for an attempt to humor herself.
"Perhaps, another day love."
