The warm spring air brought a nice feeling to Ryu’s head as he walked down a small stream to go to Kyoto. Of course, he knew that feeling would turn tense and wary when he got to the large city.
He was going to go and meet his sensei, Master Taisetsu, to gain knowledge about the horrible beasts, or the Sins. They were awful monsters, dependent on draining humans of life and reason. The Sins would take the form of humans when not threatened, and if they ever felt in danger, they would turn into their final and true form, which was known to be forever traumatizing to whoever laid their eyes on such a thing.
Ryu’s goal was to stop whatever mayhem was terrorizing Japan, and his first stop was Kyoto, the city of power and restlessness.
Eventually, he got to the city, let in by the large old gates. The smell of nice street food filled the air, masking the scent of trash and rotten food littering the dirt roads. Ryu was hungry, but he didn’t dare slow himself down just for a small bite of food, because he had a mission.
He walked towards one of the hills, wandering to find his sensei’s place. The samurai was raised as a boy by Master Taisetsu to become one of the best samurai Japan could offer. He was grateful to be brought up by such a man.
He recognized one of the old buildings, the place where he used to play with his friends as a child in his free time, thankful it was still there and taken care of.
Once he made it to the top of the hill, he walked over to a small but comfy-looking bukezukuri. He made his way inside, taking off his kabuto hat and setting it on a small table.
It smelled like tea and nice bowls of rice, a good meal to have when he was quite tired from the journey. Right when Ryu was about to speak, he heard an old voice come from Master Taisetsu. Oh, it was good to hear that voice again, even if it was close to a yell.
“RYU-KUN! WELCOME, I MISSED YOU!” Taisetsu loudly announced, walking in with a smile on his face as he went to hug Ryu.
“I’m glad you came, I was just setting up and getting ready to tell you about the Sins! Oh, those foolish things, come in, come in,” he exclaimed, wildly motioning for Ryu to follow him in. They sat down on a carpet in the resting area, both surrounding a small table as Taisetsu got the rice and tea ready.
“Now, boy, don’t get scared when you hear these tales. Who knows, maybe I’m one of them!
