A week and a half went by uneventful. We had crossed over a couple of countries at ease. The thought of us intruding their airspace had crossed me a few times but as we crossed their borders nothing happened. I was glad about this since it would complicate our journey if we ever encountered any unnecessary pauses. There was the possibility that Mr. Sylvester had already been granted permission to roam about freely, from where that permission was given I do not know myself.
I sat there on my desk reading a chapter of my grandfather’s journal. It was when he was travelling the Americas. He had an expedition around the Amazonian river trying to find scraps of old civilization but sadly encountered none. It was to be expected since the Amazonian river is easily located so if there were any trace of old civilization it would have been discovered already. Alas it never hurts to double-check, or so my grandfather always said. That expedition lasted for about 3 weeks and their efforts bore no fruit.
Thinking back, a third of the entries inside the journal were failures. Being whatever he was must’ve been hard. Freelance archaeologist one might say he was, but then again he never really did study what he had found. Or maybe the more correct job would be treasure hunter. Then there is Mr. Sylvester. For the most part he’s an actual archaeologist, he actually studies what he had recovered, dust and all. The museum only takes his finished products although they themselves can uncover the miscellaneous information stored within the dusts of the artifacts.
I shut the book and placed it inside my desk before I walked outside the room. I walked around the ship not knowing where to go, I just wanted to have a walk. Sadly there isn’t much space to be had for walking inside the ship. Seeing as there would be no end in my walking I walked over to Mr. Smith’s room and gave the door a gentle knock before letting myself in.
“What is it Andy?” he asked whilst scribbling on his paper.
“Just thought I should stop by and say thank you for the other day,” I said. In actuality, I didn’t have a reason to stop by. I only wanted some company and I figured Mr. Smith was the easiest target.
“Yes, yes, you’re welcome. Andy, as you can see I am quite busy right now and if you don’t mind would you please leave me be?” he said, attention still fixated unto his desk.
“I see, I’ll leave you be then.”
“That’s very much appreciated Andy.”
I retreated to my room and poured myself a glass of scotch and drank it in one gulp. The warmth of the drink rushed through my stomach and spread throughout my entire body. And so I decided to end the day by reading myself to sleep. Another uneventful day just passed.
whoop dee doo I finally updated my lazy ass. Not much happening, not much on my idea bank either.
