Episode 22 Finale - Murder on the Urge
“That idiot!” I said, pacing my room frantically. “That moron! What was she thinking?!”
Sebastian gazed up as I continued pacing my room. “Master, if you’d take a moment to let me know your thoughts, I beg you.”
I stopped then, shooting him a look. “You saw the note, don’t give me that!” I then pointed to the direction of her room. “She found the mastermind, yes! Something I have yet to do! She found her! She has the evidence! And yet she decides leaving herself alone in her bedroom and waiting for me is the best idea?! Knowing there’s a killer on the loose?! That MORON!”
Sebastian just lowered his lashes. “You were so calm and collected before, and now you’re freaking out.”
“This used to be a game,” I said then, glaring at him. “Now it’s a threat. You know this. You were calm before and now you look as stiff as a statue. You can’t hide that from me.”
He just kept his gaze to mine. “Master, there was no evidence of the murderer in her room. I have a suspicion that her thoughts to you were merely speculation.”
“And they were correct,” I said then, gazing over at him. “Because if they were not, she wouldn’t have been killed.”
He remained silent then.
I just closed my eyes tightly. “The murder is getting messy and less planned. Madam Deneise was murdered by stabbing of the brain. The killer hit her in the head with a vase, and it shattered against her head. They then took of the pieces, puncturing one of her eyes all the way through. Immediate death.”
Sebastian was silent for a moment. “Everyone had an alibi, though. All three suspects were with Cammie and Maddox, everyone else were in each other’s rooms. None of this makes sense, I’m afraid.”
“Not if there’s someone else on the ship,” I said then, making his lips part. “Someone that you’re suspicious of.”
Sebastian’s lips thinned, and he set his arms against his sides. “Master, surely you aren’t suggesting that I know the killer.”
“Don’t you?” I said then, glancing over at him. “You’ve been on edge, Sebastian. I know you have. Who is this mystery man, huh?”
He watched me for a moment but remained silent.
“Fine,” I said then, “don’t tell me.” I then sent him a look. “But you better fix this. That’s an order. Find the mastermind, Sebastian, and fix this. No matter what it takes.”
He bowed before me, setting his hand on his chest. “Yes, my lord.”
I just made an impatient sound and stepped over to my bed, flopping onto it.
He stepped over to me and knelt down, starting to take off my shoes.
“Master,” he said quietly, moving onto removing my socks, “please, let me be with you tonight.”
I gazed down at him then. “What?”
He just moved to start unbuttoning my shirt. “Allow me to stay tonight. I must keep an eye on you.”
I just lowered my lashes, feeling him peel off my dress and slide my night shirt on. “Why are you suddenly protective?”
“I must be,” he said then, buttoning the cloth. “My master’s in danger.”
I watched him carefully. “You are asking me for permission, and even so, you and I know very well I cannot say no. This is per the contract’s orders.”
He smiled then, finishing and gazing up at me. “Look how insightful you are.”
“I don’t need your sarcasm, Sebastian,” I said as he pulled the string of my eye patch and let it fall. “We’re already down a servant. A good one at that. And we’re running out of time. I don’t know who the killer will target next.”
Sebastian caught my eye patch and set it on the nightstand. “I will fix this. As per your orders, my lord.” He pulled back the sheets. “But, as for tonight, I must stay.”
I just got under the covers, feeling him pull them back over me and stand, blowing out a small candle on my nightstand.
“Why don’t you ever use newer technology?” I asked him then.
He just glanced down at me. “I don’t like newer technology, master.”
“It’s odd, don’t you think…?” I said quietly. “That all the murders don’t aim to any person… person.”
Sebastian was silent for a moment, but he just sat on the bed beside me. “I think it’s time you go to sleep, master.”
I gazed up at him then, watching his dark features carefully. But I just snuggled into the pillow. “Sleep with me.”
He stared down at me. “Master. You know I cannot let my guard down.”
“Fine, lay with me.” I gazed up. “It’s an order.”
Why was I doing this?
I was scared, nervous, and felt alone.
I didn’t care about judgement anymore. I just wanted a presence.
He just smiled slightly, and he sighed, lowering himself under the covers next to me after kicking off his shoes. “Yes, my lord.”
I did something unexpected, though.
I immediately shuffled over to him and snuggled with his chest, making him smile slightly as he ran his fingers through my hair.
“Someone’s clingily tonight,” he said gently, “are you feeling alright, my lord?”
“Shut up,” I said, snuggling closer, “don’t ruin this.”
He just smiled, chuckling softly. “Yes, master.”
I parted my lashes as he continued brushing his fingers through my hair, staring at his chest lazily. “Do you think that I’m next?”
He suddenly turned toward me and curled himself around me, suddenly very protective. “I will not allow that, master. You know I won’t.”
“I know,” I said then, lashes lowering. “What I find odd is that… you were so calm with the first two murders, and now you’re stiff and nervous. Why?”
He just buried his face in my hair. “Pardon my rudeness, but you know why, my lord.”
I stared at his chest for a moment, and I just closed my eyes. “Perhaps, I do.”
He kept me pressed to him but then tightened his hold. “Mine. All mine. You’re mine.”
My voice was quiet. “I did sell my soul to you, after all. So I am yours, yes…” I then glared at his chest, “no matter how irritating you are every second of my life.”
I felt his body rattle with a silent laugh. “You admitted it, master.”
I slapped his back. “Shut it.”
He just chuckled.
