The steep steps on the hill of the city were dangerous to walk on, especially after a heavy rain. Ryujin, the son of the prefect, was called to go to the temple at the top. It had already been thirty minutes, and he was exhausted.
Right when Ryujin finally made his way up there, he collapsed, tightening his kimono with a small gasp as he straightened up, brushing off the random dirt particles on his expensive silk clothing.35Please respect copyright.PENANAIxHAioEZIO
He walked slowly to the temple’s doors, opening them up with all the strength he had left. All the elders were sitting around the building, softly talking to each other as they discussed important things as usual.
“Father, what’s going on? Why was I called here?” Ryujin asked, hesitantly walking over to the prefect, expecting, as always, a cold response which he did get.
His father spoke up, smiling widely as he patted his son on the back.
”Please don’t act sad, son. You’ll surely be excited! We’re sending you on what possibly may be a suicide mission.”
