“We’re not used to people volunteering to be bait. Typically we draw straws” Soap laughs. She looks at him with a look that screams ‘dammit’. He laughs at the look on her face. “Hey, we admire the enthusiasm.” he says and she gives a small smile. Ghost is still looking at her with a sour look on his face. “Can we get a new one?” He whispers to Keegan “No, she's the best. It makes sense with who her father was.” Keegan whispers back.

“There is no fucking way that her father was my fucking drill sergeant.” Ghost says, staring at her. “Ghost” Keegan says, hitting him in the side. “Shut the fuck up, you better start believing it.” He says and smiles at the young girl. “There's no way I'm gonna listen to some little bitch. Just because she thinks her ‘daddy’ was the best around” ghost raises his voice catching her attention. She looks up with pale blue eyes, “He wasn’t the best around dumbass” she mumbles getting into his face “My father was actually a pretty shitty human being. He beat us and didn't even get me started on the stuff he did when no one was around. I may have loved my father but he sure as hell wasn’t the best around.” she says pushing on his shoulders in a daring move.

“Don’t fucking touch me” he says standing up. She looks at his tall muscular frame but stands up and gets closer to him. “Or what lieutenant?” she asks, pushing him again. The group watches this unfold, “I said I wasn’t going to be bossed around by a little bitch.” he slaps her across the face. She takes the hit and responds to it by punching him in the jaw. He lets out a little gasp, before trying to land a blow to her ribs. She ducks and kicks her left leg out, sweeping his feet out from under him. He falls down and she stands up. “Well you just got beat by one” she smiles and swears she can see some form of admiration in his once stoic facade. She places a hand over where he slapped her and shivers. “You okay corporal?” Soap asks, looking at her with concerned eyes. She just nods

He can see the tears forming in her eyes. She stands up straighter and walks back to the barracks. Soap gets up and follows her, when he gets to her room she’s in bed the sheets pulled up over her head. He can hear sobbing coming from the blankets. “Lass you okay?” he asks, slightly concerned. She stops crying “Yeah i’m good” she pulls the blanket down from her head. She keeps it toward her shoulders, but he can see the juniper sheets darkened by a substance somewhere near her arms. He walks closer to the bed. Noticing that the sheets are staining a deep crimson. He pulls the sheets back to see deep cuts on her wrist. He grabs her arms and she gasps, “I’m sorry Sergeant, you weren’t supposed to see this” she says quietly “it's fine corporal” he says wrapping his hands over the cuts. “I’ll go to the infirmary and grab some gauze so they don’t know about this. Did what ghost say cause this?” he asks before leaving she shakes her head looking at her blood on his hands as he heads to the infirmary.

He comes back in just a few minutes and starts wrapping her arms up with the gauze and then bandages. Her skin looked so pale against the tan colored ace bandages. Her eyes looked so puffy and red compared to what he had seen this morning. She looked so sweet this morning and now she looked like someone had shot her puppy. “What happened dear?” he asked her not to pry at her but wanting to know what caused her self destructive behavior. “I’d rather not talk about it after knowing you for a day. Talk to me in about a week” she said. He was sitting on her bed when Ghost and König walked in. she kind of pulled back against the bed and kept her distance from Ghost. She wasn’t scared of him or anything; she was just afraid of getting too close to either one of them. Just because they were sharing quarters did not mean that she had to share her life story with any of them. “We’re going drinking tonight Corporal, would you like to come.” he asks, “i’m sure you need some form of release” he laughs and smiles at her. She nods agreeing to go, “Maybe if I'm drunk enough I'll forget everything” she laughs. “Not likely sweetheart” soap laughs.

The rest of the day is a blur for her. Everything she does feels like she’s on autopilot. She walks into her quarters as the ghost is getting ready to leave for the bar. “Hey lieutenant,” she says walking over to her dresser getting some civilian clothes out. She puts on a dark colored tank top and jean shorts. The shorts are distressed, barely holding together; it was the only semblance she had of her civilian life outside of the military. She was a sweet southern girl and that all had changed when she signed on the dotted line. “Hey I’m sorry corporal, I let everything get out of hand earlier” the apology sounds real enough that she almost thinks that it isn’t ghost speaking. “It's fine I pushed you” she says looking at him as she turns she sees him pulling down a black shirt to cover his tattoos. She catches a glimpse of one and walks up and touches it instinctively. His body tenses under her touch, “sorry it's the first time I’ve actually seen someone have tattoos this cool.” she pulls her hand away quickly. She turns around pulling on a jacket to cover them up. “Well I don’t get them without having a reason” he says with a small smile before covering his face back up. She takes in a deep breath at the sight of him smiling “I agree” she says moving the waistband of her shorts to show a small butterfly over scars on her hip, and turns to show a matching one on the other side of her body. He looks at her gently “Wow I didn’t expect you to have tattoos, d.s. Blair hated my sleeves during basic.”

She smiled at him “he didn’t know” she whispers feeling some form of closeness to him. He laughs a hardy laugh “He didn’t know, Corporal Blair, how could you be so bad?” he asks “He’s the one who thought it was okay to sleep with a sixteen year old and get her pregnant. So i got a tattoo” she says nonchalantly before she starts heading to the bar turning on her heels to face him “I don’t know where the bar is, help please” He's still stunned from her comment but nods and leads her out of the room and down the cobblestone street to a small little brick building just off the corner, “welcome to our little piece of heaven” he motions to the building called hellfire and brimstone. She smiles “I love the name” she laughs walking in Ghost grabs her by the back of the shirt “watch out this isn’t your normal bar sweet cheeks” he says forcing out a pet name “What do you mean?” she asks “Well, the men in here are really scary and if you go in there alone it isn’t safe” he says with a hint of concern to his voice. “Oh” she says going to grab his hand so they can walk in together “no,” he says and puts an arm around her shoulders “not a holding hand bar either, it’s one of those rough sex probably would fuck in front of everyone on the pool table” Her face turns red and he walks in with her.

They see the guys sitting in the corner booth, she waves at them happily. Soap waves back and König sits back with what seems like a pout on his face. As they approach the table, the ghost takes his arm out from around her. “Don’t expect that to happen often, because it won’t” he sits down beside keegan making room for her. She sits down “so kid what do you want to drink?” soap asks her politely “Um I’ll take a jack and coke please. Light on the coke” she says and he goes up and grabs it grabbing Ghost’s usually whiskey sour. “Thanks soap” he says taking a drink of it Soap hands her the drink she orders. “Thank you” She smiles while taking a large chug.
