Chapter 1
Tiger was dreaming of her ancestors.
“Hello?” She called to no one in particular.
A dove chirped in a tree, followed by a chorus of tweets for replies. The light filtered through the branches into Tiger’s eyes and as a result, she looked behind her just to notice that there was an eerie forest behind her where the light seemed to avoid.
As she started toward it, she stumbled across a small clearing where her eyes widened in surprise. There were floating monkeys, closing their eyes in deep focus doing yoga, omming in unison.
“Well,” Tiger hummed in unease. “That's weird…” She took a step back and shifted into her wolf form to sprint along her path to the dark forest.
As she entered, she shivered.
This place is creepy. She thought.
As she weaved through the trees, she met the shore of a lake. The dark water lapped at her paws, and she shifted uncomfortably.
Well, here goes nothing! Tiger dove in. She held her breath as she pumped her paws in the water. About halfway through the way, Tiger started to panic. No, no, no, no! I can’t drown!
But right when she thought her time was coming to an end, she heard a ‘boop!’ and appeared on the other side of the lake she had come on.
“Well… I guess that works too,” Tiger shrugged as she continued.
She then found another clearing, though this one had black fire in it.
Tiger…A voice echoed through her mind, probably from the fire. Join me… We can take over the world together… I just need you to help.
No! I don’t want to take over the world!
Tiger… Help me… Join me…
No. I’m not joining you… you’re evil!
Somehow she knew it wasn’t good, because sometimes, you just knew.
You will join me! The fire shrieked and shadows crept out of spots to turn and face her. They started toward her, and the fire started spreading. Tiger screamed and started to run. She ‘bloop’ed across the lake, and when she thought she was a goner because the fire and shadows had almost caught up to her, she raced through the pasture with the monkeys.
“HELP ME! PLEASE!” She screamed in desperation.
They didn’t respond, but as the shadows entered, she saw their eyes open and they snapped their fingers. Instantly, the shadows and fire were gone. And then, Tiger woke up.
