Second grade, 2019
I was really sitting there bored. I just moved to a new town and left all my friends behind. I was an anxious kid, so looking around at random things or people was normal for me.
My eyes landed on a white girl, who seemed a bit older, she couldn't have been though if she was in my class .
"Why are you starting at me?" She asked.
I stuttered a bit, "I wanna be your friend." Her face softened.
We got to talking, turns out her name was Leah.
Everyday at recess we would play, she would collect feathers, sometimes giving me some.
She loved to play doggie. We would make up many games. Sometimes, kids would stare, and call us weird. Well that was okay, until...
One day she didn't show up. I didn't think much of it back then, except for the fact she never came back to class again.
I heard she might've moved grades, or schools. Regardless, that was the first true memory I have of someone who isn't dead, leaving without saying goodbye.
