History that is hidden,
can not be forgotten
For souls are shadows,
and life is an essence
Made supernatural by gifts,
handed over through centuries
Uphold what is untold,
Challenge those who can not be told
Have faith thy prophecy,
Make way thy prodigy.
I absolutely do not understand this poem. This old manor surely has shelves full of books weirdly designed. Its cover looks like latin handwriting, or is it? This isn't my first time entering this abandoned place. But it is my first time going through things that are left here.
The rain hasn't stopped pouring for quite an hour now. I've come here to seek shelter from the rain since my bicycle won't sheild me from the lightning. One struck of it will surely fry to death. Being stranded here made me walk around this manor, noticing the dusty figurines in the living area and the amazing number of books being left in the bookshelves.
I'm surprised at how organized this place is.
Curiosity deemed me to ask questions
Why was this place abandoned?
Why does it look like someone still lives here?
Remembering what my Tia Mitsy always said, it doesn't really add up to my personal questions. Many folks tried to break in here, resulting in why the main doors aren't locked. They would steal things like figurines, marble chair, utensils made of silver and gold, expensive tea cups, and more. But to their disappointments, the things always come back to where they took it like it has its own foot. I don't really know if I should believe that.
I rummaged through one of the shelves only to find out that all of the books were handwritten. I am now in deep curiosity of the history that lies beneath this old place. The person writing must have so much passion for writing. I noticed something move through the broken mirror.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
No answer.
"I'm really sorry! I should've known better than to go through your things, forgive me!" I desperately said
Still no answer. The lightning has stopped, I should get going now.
"You look like a wet dog." Tia Mitsy, my adoptive aunt
"I was struck in the abandoned manor. Rain didn't calm down for an hour."
She looked at me with her big menacing eyes and said;
"Well, you should've stayed. You belong there!"
"Stop it, Mama!" Michelle, my cousin. Out of all the siblings, she's the only one who treats me like family.
My parents... I have none. Tia Mitsy has been my guardian ever since she adopted me. She said she found me inside the abandoned manor's library, just below the big broken mirror. She was with her husband by the time trying to steal things like what the town's people do. Hearing my cry, a newborn cry, she picked me up and called her husband. They brought me to the town's council, but to their surprise, the council accused them of child neglect and threatened to put them behind bars if they insisted that I'm not theirs. Besides, no one will really believe my aunt and her husband due to their background of so many unlawful doings. They had no choice but to keep me even though deep inside they wanted to just leave me where they found me. Well, councillors also really have bad decision-making, resulting in our town's poverty.
They tried to look for treasure but found a useless piece of trash, thus, named me Mallory Eve. Which literally translates to
'Unlucky Evening'.
