“When I let go of you you need to run and jump off the cliff.” I hear someone whisper in my ear. I try to pull away but he pulls me back towards him so close I can feel his breath on my cheek. “Don’t” He says sternly as I try to calm the blush in my cheeks. “You need to wait until I tell you, don’t you trust me.” He says but I don’t answer, all my thoughts are scrambled up and I’m having trouble piecing together a sentence. “Go!” He whispers after a couple seconds in silence before pushing me back and twisting around to face three eagles. He races towards them and I turn around surveying my surroundings. We are on a brown and rocky cliff that goes down a couple hundred feet before ending in a sea of trees. I turn back to see the boy pulling a knife out of a scabbard on his waist. He continues racing at the eagles and when he gets close to them he jumps and turns into an hawk. I rub my eyes thinking it was a trick but just trigger another headache. Wait, another? No this is my first headache. Right? I’m not sure but what I do know is the hawk (or boy?) is racing through the air trying to get close to the eagles and when he does he turns into a boy and takes a swipe at them with his knife before turning once more to a hawk. I stand there mesmerized. Until one if the eagles dive bomb me and ends up scratching my right arm that I put up to protect myself. I wince and fall to the ground from the force if the strike. Blood pours out of the wound and I grab my arm trying to keep pressure on it to prevent it from bleeding too much. The boy turns back into a boy in the air and instead of falling flat on his face like I expected he lands on the ground going into a somersault and landing on his feet. He doesn’t miss a beat ripping his sword off the scabbard on his back and charging at me and just when he is going to hit me he swipes up giving one of the eagles a deep scratch on its wing. “What are you doing?” He yells at me grabbing my left wrist and pulling me to my feet. When he lets go I rub my wrist where he twisted it.
“I told you to jump!”
“You’re crazy!” I yell at him.
“Whats wrong with jumping?”
“Its a cliff! I’m going to fall to my death!”
“You know how to shift! Just shift and get out of here, before you get hurt!”
As he says those last words an eagle dives at him turning into a human and wrestling him to the ground. I keep standing there like a dummy thinking I’m surrounded by crazy people when another eagle-man starts walking towards me. He looks kind of good except for a large scar running from his eyebrow through his eye and down his neck. “Um.. Hello weird stranger who keeps telling me to jump off the cliff. A little help here!” I yell as the eagle-man smiles. I look over and see that the hawk-boy is occupied with his own eagle man. “Great. Just great.” I think to myself as the eagle-man takes a step towards me. “Hello pretty girl.” He says in a voice dripping with honey.”I’m going to give you a scar just like the one you gave me.” I step back and almost fall of the cliff. I hadn’t realized that I was this close. My breaths turn shaky as I look at the row of trees far far down. The eagle-man takes another step forward and takes out a small knife from its scabbard and gets ready to strike me. I close my eyes and brace myself for pain. Which i do get but instead its on my stomach. I rip my eyes open and see the hawk-boy. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!” I yell at him as we fall through the air. “ARE YOU CRAZY??!! YOU’RE GOING TO KILL US!!” He seems completely calm as we fall to our deaths. The last thing I see before fainting is a flash of light and I feel talons grab my shirt.
