The hospital room felt unnervingly silent. Kenji's enhanced senses now attuned to the whispers of shadows detected something unusual. It wasn't the hum of machinery or the faint echo of footsteps in the distant hallways. It was something primal, lurking, stalking him in the stillness of the night.
Before he could fully grasp the threat, a growl shattered the silence. The shadows in his room twisted unnaturally, forming a dark, grotesque creature with piercing, glowing eyes. It lunged toward him with inhuman speed, teeth bared and claws ready to tear him apart.
Kenji froze, his mind racing. The whispers in the shadows warned him, but his body refused to respond. Just as the creature's claws were inches away, a blur of silver and white streaked across the room.
The creature's movements halted. A petite figure stood behind it white hair glowing like moonlight, skin pale as snow, and eyes filled with an unreadable depth. She was stunningly beautiful, her delicate frame cloaked in a soft, flowing garment that seemed to ripple with the shadows themselves.
In an instant, the creature fell, its head severed cleanly. Kenji didn't even see her move. He could only stare at the lifeless body crumbling into the darkness.
The girl turned to face him, her movements deliberate and graceful. Her eyes softened as she whispered, so faintly that anyone else might have missed it:
"Found you, my master."
Kenji's heart pounded in his chest. Master? He hadn't spoken to anyone, hadn't even been outside this room in years. His confusion deepened, but before he could speak, she stepped closer.
Her presence was otherworldly like the moonlight personified. She leaned in, her lips brushing against his forehead in an almost reverent gesture. Tears streamed down her cheeks as if she had waited for this moment for an eternity.
Kenji flinched, his voice finally breaking through the fog of shock. "Who... who are you?"
The girl didn't answer. Instead, she turned her head toward the door, her gaze sharp and focused. Another shadow moved, larger and more menacing than the first. But this time, the girl wasn't alone.
A second figure entered the room, equally striking. She was taller, with flowing dark hair streaked with crimson, her piercing eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. She wielded a curved blade that shimmered as though it thirsted for battle. Her demeanor was fierce and commanding, a stark contrast to the first girl's quiet elegance.
"You're too slow," the taller one remarked, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she approached the first girl. "I had to deal with four of them before you finished one."
The white-haired girl didn't respond, her focus still on Kenji. The taller one sighed and turned to Kenji with a smirk. "Well, he's alive, so I guess you did your job."
Kenji stared at them, his mind reeling. "What... is happening? Who are you two?!"
The taller girl chuckled. "All will be explained. For now, just know this we're here for you. And you'd better get used to it, master."
Before Kenji could question further, another growl echoed through the halls. The taller girl raised her blade, readying herself for the next threat. The white-haired girl knelt beside Kenji, her soft hand touching his cheek.
"Stay here," she whispered gently. "We'll protect you."
