Solea was a lonely girl

She knew how to dance,

She knew how to twirl

She knew how to read,

She knew how to write

And even though she was happy,

She was never alright

For she, you see,

In books she read

About love and hate

And turning red

But all day

She would stay in bed

Composing and writing

In her head

Though at night

She felt rather alright

Especially when the nights were white

From snow, of course, and not from the sun

For the sun had caused her to feel glum

She’d hum a little song sometimes

Or speak in random made-up rhymes

And sometimes

She’d even go outside

To visit the forest

On the road’s other side

And there she would feel most at peace

And appreciate the trees

Though sometimes

She would wish, just once,

For someone to be here at once

To walk with her through the cold ways

And at this black-white image to gaze

But she, you see,

Is all alone

And no one has her ever known
