Hi, my name is Sizzle, and I’m super excited because I just realized a new writing contest started on Penana! I thought long and hard about what to write. First, I came up with a skunk named Snickerdoodle. But instead of smelling bad when he sprayed, he actually smelled like freshly baked cookies! All the other forest creatures would sniff around, wondering why Snickerdoodle always had that delicious scent. One day, he thought about opening a bakery to hide his unique smell, but then I got worried because cookies cause cavities, so maybe I shouldn't write about that.
Then I had another idea about a peanut named Peter. He grew deep in the Guatemalan jungle for many months, just waiting for the perfect time to be harvested. When the day finally came, he and his peanut friends were washed, sorted, and packaged. Peter was so excited about traveling around the world! He finally made it to a busy market where a man bought him, and Peter was thrilled when he arrived at the circus! He was so happy to finally be at the big top.
Just then, an elegant circus elephant came over to greet him, but she couldn't help herself and she ate him! I thought, “Oh no, that’s not a good idea!” Since some people have peanut allergies and others might be scared of clowns, I figured that story might not work either.
So, I thought maybe I would write a story about Bucky the seahorse, who dreamed of being the fastest swimmer in the ocean. One day, he challenged Turbo the tuna to a race. As they zoomed off, Bucky blew bubbles everywhere, distracting Turbo so much that he swam straight into a seaweed patch! But then I remembered all the inhumane tuna harvesting practices and thought maybe I better not write that story either.
So, I thought, “Okay, I know what I’m going to write about, and it’s going to be amazing! Maybe even the finest piece of literature ever created—a true masterpiece fit for the ages, talked about far and wide until the end of days, a work of artistic mastery!”
But just now my wife called me for dinner, so I guess it wasn’t meant to be after all.
