So far it has become clear to the others there that Vasantha Rao was not completely against his daughter’s acting in that movie.
“We don’t think about whether it will be a success or not. We worry about whether our sister should act in it or not. There are mobile apps and you- tube providing all the languages movies for the audience and this movie also may be released into them. In other situations may not but once they know it is our sister acted in that movie all the people here also do see that movie. In what type of situation we shall be put in then? And............” Pramod paused for a second as if to reiterate whatever he was going to say. “........don’t forget it is a sex oriented movie and our sister has to play a prostitute role in that.” However much he was also being lured by forty lakhs remuneration, he just could not forget about that fact.
None of them talked anything then and the silence that was ensued was quite painful.
“One thing....one thing....I want to know.” Sulochana said as if she could not bear that silence anymore. “Are you, are you in any way favourable to our daughter’s acting in that movie?”
Vasantha Rao got off from the bed he sat and went into the middle of the room. “I am in a complete dilemma now. I just don’t know what to say.” He put his hands up and down as if to say that his statement was true. “It is I always against the movies and hate the way women expose themselves in them. That is why I never liked Prameela and our daughter’s staying along with her. But when she is offered forty lakhs rupees for playing a role in a movie.........”
“But dad..........” everyone there then shocked hearing him like that and it was Pramod who came out of it first and interrupted him. “..........shall we sell ourselves for money? How we do forget about the besmirch, bad reputation we get if Charitha acts in such a movie?”
“It is surprising! You are talking whatever I have to talk in this situation.” Vasanth Rao looked into Pramod’s face and smiled. “If we are evicted from our own house by force as we cannot pay the debt back, will it get us good reputation? If you both cannot complete your education just because I cannot pay the expenditure for the same is it is good? If we both die without proper medication as we cannot bear the expenditure, how you do take it?”
“I.........I.........just never have expected that you do talk in this way!” with an absolute shocking expression in his face Pramod said and looked into the faces of the other people there. There were also exactly such expressions in their faces and such feeling in their hearts.
“I too never have thought that I do talk in this way.” Vasantha Rao once again came near to the bed and slumped on it where he sat before. “I myself am feeling surprise and shock for the change that took place in me. If Charitha has not got such a chance, I would have thought in the same way all the time. But forty lakhs rupees! How nice that amount would be to us? We can come out of our problems at once and lead a happy and prosperous life.”
“But think about our daughter, think about her also.” Sulochana said. “How she would feel to play such a role in a movie? Moreover she has never any interest to act.”
“Before I talk anything about my sister’s feeling about that, I want to say something here.” Ragini interfered and said. “Everyday so many women are competing with each other to get even simple roles in the movies. Even very popular heroines also are playing sexy roles in the movies and they are just acclaimed by the audience everywhere. In my opinion it is just a great chance to my sister and if she changes her heart a little, she can enjoy that also a lot.”
There was silence once again as none of them could know what to talk. After passing of sometime, it was Vasantha Rao who talked first. “As it is I who became absolutely favourable to Charitha’s acting in a sexy movie first, I want to make a proposal here.”
“Oh, dad! I am also absolutely favourable from the very beginning for my sister’s acting in a movie.” Ragini complained.
“Alright, alright.” Vasantha Rao smiled and said “Just listen to my proposal. It solves everything and we don’t need any more discussion on this point.”
“Okay then. Tell what it is?” Sulochana’s face was filled with curious expression and the other people faces were also with such expressions then.
“I know one thing for sure that Charitha wants to play that role only for our sake. I know this also that she never will act in movies against our will and wish. I know this also that it will be lot hard on her part to act in that movie. So..........” he paused for a second before saying again. “..........I am going to leave this decision absolutely to her. If she wholeheartedly wants to act in that movie to solve our family problems, none of us do object that. If she does not like to do that we are not going to force her to act. So her acting in that movie will be absolutely at her decision and discretion.”
“Wonderful proposal dad! I must say this.” that proposal was quite agreeable to Pramod also.
“Yes, what brother said is true.” Ragini looked into the face of Pramod and smiled.
“There is only two days time to her.” Sulochana said looking into the face of Vasantha Rao. “After two days time, they forget about our daughter and find someone else for that role.”
“Tomorrow afternoon is very auspicious. We are going to tell about this to her then.” Vasantha Rao said. “I myself am going to say this straight to her.”

“What you are thinking dear? Have not you heard anything from your family yet regarding your decision? We need to tell something to Tarang before the evening of this day.” Prameela said looking into the face of Charitha.
“I can say an absolute ‘no’ to that proposal now itself.” Laughing loudly Charitha said. “I already said to you what my mom has said as soon as she heard it from me. I don’t think that my mom has even said about this to my dad.”
“Same to the pavilion! So I can grab the chance to act in that movie.” pretending an enthusiastic expression Prameela said. “The only worrying thing is that Tarang is not very much interested for my playing that role.”
“To me also it is just like that. All the time I have to make futile attempts to get good job and getting help from you.” She paused for a second and said again. “Sometimes I am thinking how nice it would be if I can act in that movie and get that forty lakhs rupees! But I cannot do that if my family is against it.”
Prameela was about to say something but then Charitha’s cell phone rang which was lying beside her. “My mom is calling probably to ask for some money.” She took the cell phone into her hands and attended the call. “Hello, mom. Tell me what’s the matter?”
“Your dad wants to talk to you. First listen to him.” There was a little pause and Charitha understood that the cell phone was handed over to her father. “Yes, dad. Tell me.” When she heard his father’s voice saying ‘hello’ she said.
“You have got a chance to act in a movie, have not you?” her father was straight.
“Mom did not tell you that it has happen quite automatically without my trying at all?” Charitha’s heart missed a beat hearing direct like that about it from her father. She knew very well how much he would hate and dislike movie heroines. “I have no intention to play that role dad.”
“Then why did you say about this to your mom?” this question was also straight.
“Just casually........ I said about that to mom.” Charitha could not think of anything else except that to say.
“If we agree, do you like to act in that movie?”
Straight questions like that were baffling Charitha. “You people never do agree to such type of a thing! Especially you never would do agree me to act as a heroine in a movie.” Charitha was wondering whether her mother told her father what type of movie that was or not. “Moreover it is a sex oriented movie and I have to play the role of a prostitute.”
“Your mom told me everything and your frankness just made me feel happy.” There was a pause before she heard from her father again. “Dear I know, that you are never interested in acting. And you never do anything that I don’t like. I really can understand you want to play that role in that movie only for our sake. Only to get our family out of its financial problems. I know how much hard it will be on you if you do act in that movie.”
“Dad....what....what you want to say?” Charitha’s voice shivered while she was saying that.
“Whether to act in that movie or not is absolutely at your discretion and decision. But if you do take the decision to act in that; it is I who am going to support you always. So think and decide yourself. If you think you can suffer to that extent to save our family from problems, I just welcome you to act in that movie. If you don’t want to do that, just forget about it.” His voice was with the same firmness and same modulation.
“Dad.....dad.......I never have expected that you do say like this.” Charitha did not know when she started weeping and tears were flowing down on her cheeks. She just did not know why she was weeping. “Without any delay I want to say something now itself. I have decided to act in that movie.”
“Then I cannot remain without saying one thing.” Her father paused for a second and said. “I am just proud of you.”
Charitha could not talk anymore, cut off the call and burst into weeping.
“What your dad has said making you burst into weeping like this? You said to those people so clearly you never act in the movie if they don’t like.” Prameela angrily said looking into the face of her friend.
Charitha controlled her weeping, took the cell phone into her hands, went to the call recorder and selected the recording between her and her father and pressed it and in that silence the conversation between her and her father was so much clear to hear.
“My god! I just cannot believe it at all!” Prameela’s face was filled with shock. “I never have expected such transformation in him!”
“It is just a proof............” Charitha made herself straight on the sofa. “.........how the circumstances do change the rigorous mindsets also. I also did not expect this at all.”
“Anyhow line is absolutely clear for your acting in the movie.” With sudden happiness in her face Prameela said. “So we can convey the news to my friend that you are ready to act in that movie.”
“Do that fast without any delay.” Charitha said with excitement. “And tell them those forty lakhs rupees have to be transferred into my mom’s account before I start acting in that movie.”
“I certainly tell them so and you need no doubt in it.” Prameela laughed and said. “But why haste? Let them make phone to us and then we tell. It should not be so that you are too much enthusiastic to act in that movie. It makes you lower in their eyes.”
“I am not thinking like that.” Suddenly there was anxiousness in her face. “If I am not hurried, they may give this role to some other girl.”
“It is not going to happen like that and you just be relaxed! If we don’t receive a phone call from them by tomorrow also, I do contact them and tell about your decision.”
