Ariana
"Lady Ariana, the king requests an audience with you," The butler behind me whispers, his annoyance hidden behind the agitation in his eyes as he leads me down the empty hallway.
I can't help but wonder how much work he missed because of me; today is the coronation, and he seemed annoyed to be showing me where Will is.
He leads me through the labyrinth of hallways and stairs. He grunts loudly, when we reach the last step of the spiral staircase, his body sagging with relief, his old age showing, making me worry about him. He looked too tired, too frail, too old to be working.
We make it to the meeting room, and he announces me in with a terrible cough, his body shaking as he clutches his walking stick. Making me rush toward a pitcher near the fireplace, ignoring Will. I grabbed the old pitcher, checking to see that it had water inside, before rushing back to the butler and pressing the cold metal to his lips. He drank a few sips before gently pushing me back.
"Thank you, my lady, but I must apologize for being such an inconvenience to you and for delaying your audience with His Majesty the King. I shall have my leave now." The butler rushes out the apology before taking his leave with a quick bow, not letting me explain that he didn't need to apologize.
He shuts the door behind him, letting me turn to a mysterious-looking Will, whose ravishing blue eyes find mine as he takes three quick and long strides toward me. Each one of his strong strides sends my blood boiling and my insides melting as his hands curl around my neck and his lips come crashing down on mine, sending my mind spiraling as his tongue finds mine.
My fingers knot in his hair as his tongue battles with mine in a song of heart-wretched desire, his a burning torch against mine. My mind is numb, and my insides tingle when he pulls away, giving me a coy smile.
"You are perfect," He leans in to softly kiss my forehead, "You'll make a perfect Queen consort."
"I don't think I will," I say, straightening my back and swallowing hard, " I am no leader. I'm just me."
"You will be. You don't need to worry about being a perfect leader. No one is perfect." He says, his fingers gently brushing my knuckles.
"Do you know why you're here?" He continues, causing me to shake my head in no.
"Well..." His lips land on mine for a brief moment before he pulls away again," tonight the whole world will finally know that you are mine, and I will finally have you for myself."
I bite my lip, liking the idea of being his, my mind rushing with the thoughts of him being inside of me as my body floods with arousal.
A sly look takes over his eyes as he pinches my bottom lip between his thumb and forefinger, "For your sake and mine, I advise you not to bite your lip."
His touch causes my cheeks to heat before I mumble out a weak, "Why?"
"Well, my little pussy cat," Will says as he brings his lips close to my ear, making me shiver as my skin lines with goosebumps, "It would make me do things that would lead us into a lot of trouble, especially when I can smell how aroused you already are."
He nibbles on my ear, causing me to gasp out loud. I hold my breath as he takes a step back, his eyes predatory as they skim over my figure before landing on my cleavage for a moment too long, causing me to let out a fake cough so that his eyes land on mine.
"You better get going before I take you against the wall." He says, licking his lips as his eyes skim over me one more time.
I nod my head in agreement before turning to leave. My hands pull at the door handle as he states, "And Ariana, you look beautiful in red."
------------------------------------------------
The ballroom looks spectacular, it's all gold and red. A perfect combination of light and dark. Andria's loud laugh booms over the orchestra as she tells some fat, white-haired lady jokes about me failing in my dance lessons. I ignore her, knowing that she's only trying to get under my skin.
I almost smile at the thought of her realizing that I am the King's mate and not her. I can't wait for her to find out. It will finally make up for all the years she's tortured me with her hackling words.
I look around the room, my eyes scanning over it to find Nathanial. Last I saw him, Mother was forcing him into a dance with a scruffy-looking lady, whose hair looked like dead straw and had a nose that was sharper than an eagle's beak. Hopefully, she didn't peck him to death.
When I don't spot him or Charlie, I scan the ballroom for Will. I don't see him either, causing me to furrow my brows as I decide to hunt them down in the room.
I am forced to talk to people, asking them if they've seen Nathanial or Charlie or even the King. Most of them stated that they hadn't seen any of them while some tried directing me by pointing out random places, which only turned out to be wrong.
Moments pass and I find no one, the place being too crowded to search for anybody properly. Eventually I give up on my hunt and start to walk around like a lost puppy looking for a place to hide.
I make my way towards Andria, who is standing next to mother. My feet came to a sudden halt when Will's soothing voice booms across the room, causing everyone to be silent and stop what they were doing.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it has been a great privilege to be celebrating my coronation with you all," Wills says, his back straight and his eyes seemingly dangerous to the untrained person, but he just looked prideful to me. "Seeing what a great and momentous occasion this is, I would like to make an announcement... I have found my mate."
He pauses letting the suspense build as people begin to murmur," I would like to raise a toast to my wonderful people and my beautiful mate the Lady Andria of House Salver... "
