Chapter 6: The Days After the Rain
After last night's heavy rain, the morning sky was strikingly clear. Droplets of water clung to the leaves, reflecting the sunlight like tiny crystals. Thiên Lam stood on the porch, a cup of hot tea in her hands, quietly savoring the peaceful morning.
Inside, the young man—whose name she had yet to learn—was sitting near the fireplace, carefully drying his backpack. His eyes were filled with curiosity as he looked around the cozy wooden house.
"This house is beautiful…" he suddenly spoke, his voice gentle but filled with sincerity.
Thiên Lam turned to him, meeting his bright, clear gaze. She smiled slightly.
"You think so?"
"Yeah. It feels warm." He nodded, then suddenly seemed to remember something and quickly lowered his head. "Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Minh Vũ."
"Thiên Lam."
Minh Vũ looked up, his eyes lighting up as if trying to memorize her name.
After a simple breakfast of bread and strawberry jam, Minh Vũ felt it was time to leave.
"Thank you for letting me take shelter from the rain… and for the tea. I’ll never forget how good it tasted!" He grinned as he adjusted his now-dry backpack.
Thiên Lam nodded, walking him to the door.
But just as he stepped down the porch stairs, Minh Vũ suddenly turned back, a hint of hesitation in his eyes.
"If… if I come back to visit someday, would that be okay?"
Thiên Lam looked at him for a long moment before nodding gently.
"Of course. I’ll be here."
Minh Vũ’s smile widened before he quickly turned and jogged down the small path leading to town.
She stood there, watching his figure disappear among the trees.
For some reason, at that moment, a quiet warmth settled in her heart.
