I live in a desert, nothing but: Dirt, Sand, Rocks, Sun and Dirt. Speaking of Desert I remember when I was in the 5th grade, desperate for attention I decided to join in the annual Ramona spelling bee. This spelling bee would of been a piece of cake if I knew how to spell, plus there was a pizza party after so my chunky ass was the first in line. Randy the other chunky guy that actually knew how to spell was right behind me: Glasses, two big beaver teeth and curly hair scream at my eyes. "You beet me," "ha I know!" I dont know, but as soon as that moment happened I felt the rivalry between us. Like Goku and Vageta; Harry and Malfoy and Yoda and Darth Vader. We were totally clashing in our heads. Who would spell better; and who would get the 3rd slice of pizza.
Minutes after we are taken to the schools auditorium entering from the back it was the first time I've ever been back here. Going up the red zig zag rail ramp up the stage I see old school desks, school play props and music stands. In the center of the stage 32 chairs. 30 in three rows, 2 chairs in the edges of the stage and a podiums smacked right On front center stage. Counting heads I got 30 students and the 6th grade teacher Miss Shade. Taking a seat we were all assigned a number. "16" as long I wasn't the first, I was glad Randy was number "4". and the girl I liked Stephany was number "12". Gosh she was pretty, well again WAS. Now that years gone by she looks like a piranha with blue big eyes. As the very last few students sat down, the curtains open and the entire student body was there from 1st grade to 6th, boys and girl my age pressure me unintentionally to step out. But it was to late the stage lights are on and the princip the introduction. "1, Aron" he gets up, walks to the podium and steps up.
-"Cauliflower"
"C-a-u-l-i-f-l-o-w-e-r"
Oh how hard is that I mean anybody can spell "califlower".
Hearing words like: "Twin" "Stove" and "Standered i went up there with confidence, with the feeling you get when your friends walk behind you and your in the center leading "The pack" or when you tell your friends your buying and there right behind you by the register. So I get there and as soon as I step on to the podium I saw them all. Eyes, all kinds of eyes. Even my stomach told me it was a bad idea.
-"Desert"
trying too be smart i said "Can you use it in a sentence,"
-"El Paso lives by the Desert."
-"Desert"
"D-i-c"
After saying c everybody's eyes widen and jaws dropped. Bzzz I was off the stage in a finger snap, the spelling bee went on as usual; Randy won 3rd place. That bunhole. Hearing him bloat about getting the last slice, witch was pretty annoying really. And he looked pretty fat and ugly eating it. I remember asking Miss Shade why they toke me out, she giggles raises hey eyebrow and tells me she dosnt know. But now that im much older I do. That's what makes this memory of mine unforgettable. "D-i-c-" oKay..
P.s to those who didn't get how I started spelling desert like that, my native language is Spanish, E's and I's, C's and S's i would get them confused all the time.
