She returns to the apartment not long after beating someone up and once she enters she hears the sound of multiple objects falling and then a larger thing hitting the floor. She rushes into their room and lets out a relieved sigh, Mia had fallen out of bed and knocked over some things on the nightstand. Mia looks at the ceiling blankly as Nia picks her limp body up to put her back in bed. Nia picks up the fallen objects and puts them back to where they were, then looks at her nonfunctional sister.
It’s been about 7 years since they lost their parents. Mia has been undergoing this psychological trauma ever since she woke up and sometimes can’t do anything by herself. Nia occasionally feeds her and dresses her, and Mia can usually use the bathroom by herself unless help is absolutely needed. Some days are worse than others, but Mia’s gradually getting better. She can hold things on her own now and sometimes she’ll start telling Nia stories, but she’s only usually up for it in the afternoon. When Mia can, she sticks very close to her twin like glue.
Nia lets the cat into their room and keeps the door open in case her sister has to use the bathroom. She unbuttons her pants and pulls her legs out of her skinny jeans. She pulls her shirt off and over her head, throwing it somewhere behind her, leaving the young adult in a black tank top and underwear. She slides into the bed next to her twin and pulls the covers over Mia a little more. Nia smiles a little sadly at how expressionless and tired her sister has become, and pulls her closer to give her a warming embrace. Mia wraps her white arms around her and closes her eyes.
The raven-haired sister somehow always entangles herself with Nia, and right now, that’s all the broken down girl needs; no one else but Nia.
“Mia. Watch for the doorway.” Nia holds her sister up as they walk out their bedroom. She slides her hand onto her chest and holds her close, pursing her lips worriedly.
Mia stumbles, but her twin remains patient and grips her tighter. They manage to get through with some minor bumps and Mia’s legs are almost giving out beneath her, sensing her sister's distress, which makes her upset. She grips her shoulders tightly and leans into her more. Nia smiles and takes her hands underneath her sister's armpits and pulls her up more, allowing the twin to wrap her arm around her neck. Mia holds her tighter, digging her nails into Nia’s shoulder.
Nia makes her goal the couch. She gently sets her down on the comfy furniture, wrapped in a blanket. Mia snuggles herself deeper into it; it smells like Nia, and because it smells like Nia, it also smells like their cabin. Their father, mother, everything- it surrounds her and consumes her sadness. Mia smiles, a tad, forming the blanket over her mouth, right under her nose. The smell is so strong, maybe because this was a hand-knitted blanket by Flora, their mother. Nia looks at her with a bowl of yogurt in her hand, and smiles as well, sitting beside her. She scoops some yogurt in a plastic spoon and hovers the white utensil in front of Mia’s closed mouth.
“Mia, open your mouth, please.” Nia says gently waiting until her sister dropped her jaw.
Mia opened her mouth a tad allowing the spoon to slide into her mouth. Her teeth scrape the solid liquid off the spoon when Nia tilts the utensil up, and she swallows. Nia continues this process until the yogurt in the bowl is gone.
“How are feeling Mia? Does anything hurt?” She talks like she's speaking to a child, “Do you need to use the bathroom?”
The unstable twin looks at the hall and nods faintly. Nia helps her up and follows her to the bathroom. She turns away for her sister's privacy, and listens intently to see if Mia accidently fell down or something. It’s not long before Mia returns to her sister, looping her arm in hers gently, and saddeningly slouching. Nia frowns a bit, but tries to keep her happiness as bright as it can be. Mia’s white skin shimmers against the dancing rays of the shining sun, peaking through the beige curtains. She plops down onto the couch with Nia next to her. The taller twin tightly holds her sister’s hand and squeezes. Mia squeezes back, and single tears stream down her face. Nia frowns a bit and wipes her eyes.
“The radio said there’s going to be a storm later tonight and all of tomorrow.” Nia said, trying to get her sister to talk, “Isn’t that cool?”
Mia continues to stare blankly at the wall.
“Come on…” Nia whispers, “It’s been 7 years, Mia. I know it’s sad, but we need to keep going.”
Mia slowly turns her head to her, “They’re dead.”

Nia doesn’t say anything and gazes at her sister with confusion.
“I want to hug Dad and Mom, Nia, but they’re dead.” She tilts her head to the side a bit, “How did they die?”
“The Territory we were living close by killed them, Mia.” Nia shakes her head, “I’ve told you that.”
“Why didn’t you kill them instead?” Nia can’t see her pretty auburn eyes anymore. They go cold and dead, “So it’s your fault isn’t it?”
“Huh…? I- I guess? Mia… honestly, I don’t know. I had you, I wasn’t going to risk your life for my revenge.” Nia pulls her hair out of her eyes, sighing, “Why are you saying this now?”

“Nia, you won’t leave me right? Right? I’ll die if you leave me! I’ll die, Nia!” Suddenly Mia looks exasperated and uncollected. She looks at Nia with frightened eyes and a concerned expression. She looks at Nia with desperate lights in her eyes. Nia pulls her head into her chest, gently petting her head.

Mia begins to cry like she’s been shot in the kneecap. Nia doesn’t cry, but she feels that she might with how heartbroken her sister is wailing. Her sister is so small, so petite; she almost looks like a wounded girl. She holds her like a gentle mother, her hands are calming to Mia. The smaller girl knows that she’s here, and they’re going through this together.
