The ship Endeavor had been sent out from earth with 400 people on it to explore the universe and find a planet where humans could live.
The 400 people were picked as couples to start a new life somewhere else.
They had been traveling for two years and had found nowhere suitable yet.
now there was a huge ball of fire heading straight at them and no chance of getting out of the way.
people were moving to the evacuation area as couples and getting into pods which would head straight back to earth power by solar wind, the couples would go into a trance-like state for the journey back.
200 of these pods had already cleared and people were queuing in the evacuation area waiting to board their pod.
The load speakers all over the ship were repeating its information.

IMPACT 18 MINUTES.
The main control room was a hive of activity.
"Is there any way we can avoid this?" asks Captain Morgan looking at the huge fireball heading straight at them.
Marshall from main control on earth Replies "none we can see, you need to evacuate, get everyone in their pods and let's get them back home we will take control of the ship now."
The captain turns to his five crew including his girlfriend Becky
"Right you heard main control get to your pod's let's get out of here."
As the crew leaves the room Becky walks over to Morgan putting her arm around his neck pulling him in for a kiss she says I don't want to go,
he looks down at her "neither do I, but we'll die here."
"We may die on the journey back those pods are not tested."

"come on we need to get out of here we haven't much time now and need to get clear of this ship when it hits, the impact could also damage the pods," says Morgan.
"look I don't want to get in one of them pods I would rather die here instead of in one of them things," say Becky
"Becky we need to get back to earth so we can start our family."
"Look, Morgan, we won't get back to earth stop kidding yourself, we might as well take our last breath here we are as good as dead if we get in them pods so I'm not going."
"But main control have told us to evacuate Becky."
"what can they do they are two years away and the ship is going to get destroyed anyway."

"Becky we need to try and get back to earth, don't you see?"
"Ok, Morgan you go but I'm staying here I am not going back because I don't think we'll ever make it."
"I'm going back Becky so if you want to come ill be waiting in the evacuation area we will have five minutes to get clear of the impacts."
Morgan leaves the room
Becky moves over to the big padded seat in front of the main window looking out as the fireball keeps growing bigger.

Fools, she was thinking when this fireball hits there will be nothing left of the pods they will be sucked up into the destruction of this flaming mass.
Morgan walks into the evacuation area, ten pods at a time coming up the firing tubes couples stepping forward into them, he watched as they kiss one another and say their goodbyes, they wouldn't be conscious for two years now, the pods would put them into a deep sleep so their bodies would barely function being fed and breathing with the aid of the pods system which would be monitored on earth.
There were only 29 couples left now and he knew he had to wait till last to get off the ship.

I wish they would turn that off now he thought
Whoosh up came ten more pods, the same thing a kiss and goodbyes being said, he watched as they stepped into the pods, the body arms and head clamps fixed onto them holding them steady then the door shuts across as the pods pressurize he could see people drifting into their deep sleep.
Next, the tube door slides across and a sound resembling a mortar being fired is heard as the pods clear the tube.
He looks around but no Becky He had hoped she would change her mind. But he knew how stubborn she could be.

There's something wrong there should be 10 pods maybe his pod comes on its own as he's the captain again he watches the kisses and goodbye's, again the nine pods disappear he steps forward waiting for his pod

4 minutes that's not going to leave much time to clear the blast and where's his pod? Stepping over to a control panel he presses a few buttons a message appears on the screen no pods available.
No this is wrong there's one more pod.
pressing his override password into the panel he hits supply pod.
again no pods available appears on the screen.
he turns and runs to the control room as he nears the door it opens.
Becky looks round" Oh you've changed your mind?"
"No Becky the systems saying there are no pods, I need earth control to override the system it won't let me."

"look we will never clear the impact now anyway come sit down let's spend our last moments together,"
"how can you be so calm?"
"Just accept our fate, Morgan."
he rushes to the earth control panel but the normal picture of the earth control room has been replaced by a static white picture.

He realizes that there's nothing he can do, moving over he sits next Becky waiting for the inevitable.

"Becky can I tell you something he says as he watches the fireball hurling at the window."
"No don't spoil it now I know what you are going to say and you may regret it."
IMPACT 50 seconds."How will I regret it we won't be here."
IMPACT 40 seconds.
"let's just sit and watch the end."
IMPACT 30 seconds.
"Becky how can you be so calm."
IMPACT 20 seconds.
"she leans across and kisses his cheek."
IMPACT 10 seconds.
he braces himself for the impact

Strange he felt nothing, he opens his eyes to see Becky looking at him smiling he looks up at the screen nothing, no fireball what was happening here.
"Relax Morgan, it was all part of the plan."
"Plan What plan?"
"we have been traveling for two years now, and the pods will find their way through the universe and land on planets that may sustain life."
"what are you saying, this was all planned?"
she laughs "Yes long before you were named the captain."
"But what if the pods land on planets that won't sustain life?"
"That's a chance we took."
"We who's we?"
"The earth overpopulation committee you see the earth is getting very crowded and we need to find other planets to live on, all the pods will be tracked and monitored."
"But those people believe they are heading back home you can't do this."
She Laughs again "we just have."
Standing up and moving over to the earth control monitor she presses in her password.
he watches
a voice speaks out from the screen
"Hello, Becky has everything gone to plan?"
"Yes, all pods have cleared the ship."
"Ok let's bring it home, we will get our next assignment ready."
she looks over at Morgan he looks horrified.
"How can you do this?" he says, he thought he knew her.
She laughs Then walks out of the room shouting back "I will do anything to live, won't you?
