Writing a new story after you've just finished an old one is being soaked in ice-water while you're asleep, to find out your parents are taking you somewhere you've always wanted to go, without the sleep deprivation and clear ending in sight. Sometimes I can't remember why I ever thought writing was pleasurable in the first place! Then I pick up my pencil, or rest my fingers on the keyboard, and it all comes back to me.
