But it rolls in with waves so unappealing,

The feelings wear themselves on a weary smile,

What are you all so afraid of?

Let the good things be good, you know?

I drive my underclassmen home from the gym,

I watch trees flit past my dashboard,

And I exhale, for they stand like a painting,

And we all seem so bored.

On foot, the world is so even and large,

Inescapable, unspannable, and indescribable,

the sheer amount of colors I could never name,

The freshness of the air undeniable

Run a trail with me, I'll be gone in some months,

I'll leave and the snow will cover my footsteps
