Rin was awful. And I'm not saying just "awful", I mean godawful. Amaya first let him practice on a dummy she had set up, and he had torn up the dummy with ease, but that wasn't the problem.
"You have no accuracy." She had said to him.
"But I thought I was doing good!"
"You won't do good at all if you continue wasting all your energy on swings when you don't even hit your opponent."
Rin pouted, obviously hurt. Amaya's heart skipped a beat at the sight, but she avoided it from showing on her face.
"You control the blade, not the other way around."
"But I am controlling my sword!" He took the clip out of his hair, having his bangs fall down onto his forehead. "I'm done for the day, Hoshina."
"Rin, we just started." She said, tapping her fingers on her sword. 'Irritated' was probably an understatement for her at the moment.
"But I'm tired!"
Amaya felt like face palming herself, "you sound like a five year old. Now get up and practice."
She watched as Rin took many swings at a practice dummy and target, throwing fistfuls of power each time. She noted to herself to never get on Rin's bad side.
"Oh, hey Rin!" A voice came from out in the hall.
Turning around, Amaya noticed a girl with short blonde hair standing outside. Rin's eyes lit up, hitting Amaya like a bullet.
"Shiemi!" He said, sheathing his sword.
"Were you practicing with Hoshina?" She asked, looking over at Amaya. Shiemi gave her a little wave, and Amaya nodded hesitantly as if saying "hello".
"Yeah, but we just now finished." Rin said, grabbing his messenger bag and walking out of the room. "See ya, Hoshina."
They walked out, leaving Amaya feeling like a puddle of worthlessness. Rin was once again falling for Shiemi, no doubt about it. The damn kid wouldn't even call her by her first name, so how was she expecting something even more for their relationship?
She felt weak under her skin, making her feel uncomfortable. It was already past a year since she had joined the cram school; already a whole year gone to waste trying to make Rin fall for her. She fell to the floor, breaking down. Tears began to fall from tired eyes.
