I have come to the decision to make my character Bojing, officially Bǎihé (Lily).
Let me explain in the past I was told people would not understand, she was born a boy but at the age of 5 she became a girl and her father Longwei gave her the name Xuě Bǎihé (Snow Lily). However, my current editor has told me to go for it, as he sees nothing wrong with it as he really likes the whole concept of someone so young making that decision and her father accepting it, plus I am always referring to the character as woman, never a man, like she has been portrayed in past stories, which my editor and I feel could course some confusion when I talk to my fans as the Bojing character was never meant to exist.
Together we are going to start to change every story where Bojing appears to Bǎihé as we would like to make it clear what gender she is and to erase anything which makes her male out of respect to the character.
