For the first five years of my life my family lived in a trailer park in Sioux falls south Dakota.
I don’t remember much about this time, just brief hazy memories that tare slowly fading away.
A few, such as watching my dog Scobey do jumping in the snow or making plans to swim with a friend, are all that really remember.
I also remember the measuring pole.
In the center of the trailer was a board.
It went floor to cealing. Every few months my parents would measure the kids against it and write the date. I don’t remember much of the time leading up to us moving away for there but I do remember being sad that we would have to leave the measuring pole behind. I was happy to learn my father brought it with after the move though it had now just hung out in an unfinished basement for over thirteen years without having a single measurement added to it.
