Throughout China you would know of warriors, each with their own story to tell. However, there is always one that outshines the others, and that one particular warrior for this story would be a man named Jiang.
Strong, brave, and intelligent, he is a man that the Emperor favors among all the other warriors. Known for his countless feats in battle, there is no one who would dare challenge the warrior Jiang.
However, the skill for fighting can only go so far.
A fallen God had cursed all of China. A curse that would dry up their rivers and lakes. Slowly, their land had begun to die. The crops were wilting, the people parched, and it seemed as if there was nothing to be done. Just like that, the entire lad was doomed.
Something had to be done.
"If this goes on we will all die..." the Emperor mumbled to himself, dressed in splendid robes and his walls decorated in gold. He turned to a servant, "Bring my Jiang!" he demanded with a voice that boomed through the spacious throne room.
Jiang placed his sword beside him, sweat dripping from his forehead and his eyes piercing the servant. "The Emperor has called for me?" he said in a voice so low the servant had to lean in closer in order to hear him.
"Yes. He is calling for your immediate presence."
With a sigh, Jiang brushed his dark hair away from his face and gazed into the sunset horizon where the scorching sun continued their curse. "Very well." the orange light reflected onto his skin, skin tanned and built enough for one to know that he had spent years training.
"Jiang, I'm at my wit's end. As an Emperor I have the duty to protect my people and have them prosper, however, with this curse I am sure that we will soon perish." the Emperor gracefully stood up from his throne and walked down the long staircases so softly it was as if he was gliding. "If this goes in our country will be weakened. The people will fight amongst themselves. Our soldiers will not be able to fight. Our enemies will have the chance to strike."
The Emperor stopped in front of Jiang. A warrior who was was kneeling on the ground with his head bowed in a form of respect.
"We can't let this disaster go on. Jiang, as the bravest warrior I know I will task you with this important mission."
"I will do anything my Emperor wishes."
With a relieved smile, the Emperor quickly changed it to that of a grim expression, "For centuries, a legend has been told to all of my ancestors until it has reached to me. In the mountains far, far, far away from here there resides a maiden as beautiful as the moon. She is known to be a goddess, but not just any regular one. With a single tear from her eyes of lilies, you would be able to restore the water to any land." the Emperor took out a scroll from inside of his sleeves and handed it to Jiang.
The warrior furrowed his brows and dared to look up to face the Emperor, "Forgive me, but... is there really such a Goddess?" he took the scroll into his hands and gave it a look.
The Emperor, one who held all power in the entire empire, sad back down on his golden throne, "As of now, there isn't a lot of things that we are able to believe in. We have no other way but to hope that this information is real." the Emperor, now looking like a regular man, sighed and looked out the window at his dying land.
Jiang stood up straight and held his helmet firmly, "I will do anything it takes to accomplish this mission. I am honored that you can trust me with such a task."
With a wave of his hand, the doors opened. "I wish you the best of luck through your journey." the two of them shared a nod, and soon, Jiang was already heading out the royal palace.
He arrived at the royal stables to fetch his horse. A young stable boy brushed away at his stallion, eyes sparkling with interest.
Jiang let out an amused breath, "You seem to be enjoying yourself."
Startled, the boy turned around. "I'm sorry, sir! It's just that- uh... oh! Is thi- is this your horse?"
Jiang took a step forward and patted his stallion, "Indeed it is. Quite a horse, isn't he?"
His eyes sparkled and he nodded furiously, "Yes, he is!"
With a deep chuckle, Jiang gave a few silver coins to the boy and pulled his horse out of the stable.
The boy bowed in thanks. He watched as Jiang saddled up and hopped onto the amazing stallion. "Where are you going, mister?" he asked in curiosity.
The strong warrior looked up at the blue, cloudless sky, "I'm going to get you all some water."
"Really!?"
"Yeah," with a smile, he looked back down at the boy, "but it's going to take me a while, so wait a bit, alright?" he gave him a pat on the head, and just like that, he grabbed on to the reins and urged his horse forward.
The young boy watched in amazement as the stallion brought his master to the royal gates in only seconds. As soon as they had left the stables they were already out of the royal grounds.
A fierce look took over his eyes as Jiang faced forward. The strong wind blew against his dark hair tied in a short, low ponytail. Missions after missions, wars after wars, all of them as challenging as the other, however easy this task may sound, Jiang couldn't afford to tae it lightly. Once again, the whole country was at stake.
If he ever found this Goddess of Tears he would resort to any method in order to have her give him what he wanted. This was for the sake of his country.
