I'm practically the center of attention without the 'center' part. The thing I don't like about airports is how crowded it is. It feels like no matter what time you go to the airport, it'll always be crowded. Today would be the first day of me traveling by myself. Even though I know I should be nervous or even worried about getting on the wrong plane, i'm not. I honestly feel quite content with the hint of cluster phobia stirring up inside me. I wish my parents were with me right now, but they're not. Instead, they're watching over me right now. My parents died recently in a car accident. They were both coming back home from a business trip when a car headed straight towards them and their car flipped over to the side of the road. I know this because someone from the hospital called the house phone and told me that my parents died in a car accident. Ever since then, I've been staying with a classmate until my grandparents decided to hold custody over me.
I like my grandparents and I don't mind living with them, but they don't live in the U.S. They live all the way in London, England so that means I have to take a plane all the way over there by myself. What's more is that I now have to get used to a whole different culture and attend a school that's completely different from mine. That's the thing that i'm worried about the most. I'm not really a popular person. I wasn't even popular in my old high school so now I know i'll become even more of an outcast at my new school and since it's in London, I know i'll be faced with a bunch of rich, snooty kids that are rude and mean. I'm definitely not ready for this.
Just then, I heard a crackle in the PA system. I pulled my headphones down and placed them around my neck so I can listen clearly to what the person on the PA system has to say.
"The 12:40 flight to London, England is now boarding. I repeat, the 12:40 flight to London, England is now boarding." She said then the PA system crackled again.
"That's me." I said then sighed and started making my way over to the boarding area.
I walked up to the ticket person and showed them my ticket before boarding the plane. When I got onto the plane, I found my seat and decided to sit next to the window. I kinda like being near the window because I don't care for being close to the aisle. When you're near the aisle, so many things can distract you and you're always being hit in the face or shoulder by people.
I set my traveling bag on the shelf above me then I sat down next to the window and placed my back pack on the floor by my feet. My back pack consists of entertainment like comic books, my Nintendo DS, a journal to do some writing in and some snacks in case I get hungry. I relaxed my head back against the seat then I pulled my headphones over my ears and continued to listen to my music, closing my eyes. Before I knew it, the plane took off after everybody found their seat and got situated.
A little while later, I felt someone tapping me on the shoulder. I slowly opened up my eyes, haven't realized that I actually fell asleep while listening to my music. I started to rub my eyes then I pulled my headphones down and looked over to see who tapped me on the shoulder.
"Excuse me, would you like something to drink and eat?" She asked.
I nodded, feeling quite thirsty and hungry.
"For drinks, we have water, soda and juice. You look a little too young to drink wine." She noted with a smile.
I smiled softly and lightly chuckled. "Uh...Yeah. Um...Can I have a soda?" I asked.
"Pepsi, Coke, Rootbeer or Mountain Dew?" She then asked.
"Mountain Dew." I replied then I took the Mountain Dew can from her and a clear glass with ice to pour the drink in.
I pulled down the tray from the seat in front of me and set my glass and can down.
"And what would you like to eat? We have Steak and Potatoes, Teriyaki Chicken with vegetables, Beef Soup, a salad and some Parmesan Chicken with Pasta." She explained.
I blinked my eyes, a bit overwhelmed by all the high quality food they're serving. I don't travel much, but every time I do, I always travel with the middle class and the only food they serve is little appetizers that you can make yourself at home. That's when I realized that my grandparents bought me a ticket for First Class so i'm practically riding with all the business people that have loads of money.
I looked at the airplane assistant and smiled.
"Can I have Steak and Potatoes, please?" I said.
She nodded then she pulled out a plate that was covered in plastic. She set it down on the tray in front of me then handed me silverware that wasn't plastic at all.
"Enjoy." She said before walking away with her tray of goodies.
I looked down at the food in front of me and smiled brightly then I sighed happily.
"I'm loving this already." I said then started digging into my food.
Having rich grandparents will take some time getting used to, but i'm starting to love being treated like a Prince. Even if i'm just on an airplane. After I finished up my food, I gave my trash to the same lady again and relaxed back in my seat as I sipped on my Mountain Dew from my glass. I pulled my headphones back over my ears and closed my eyes, ready to sleep again.

When I finally arrived in London, I got off the plane and went up to the luggage conveyor belt so I can retrieve my things then I started walking around, keeping an eye out for my grandparents. I waited and waited till I eventually saw them standing with everybody else. My grandpa was holding up a sign with my name on it. I smiled then I walked over to them.
"Grandma! Grandpa!" I shouted.
"It's so good to see you, Ashy~" My grandma said, giving me a hug and a kiss on my forehead.
"You look so grown and you're so tall too." She complimented.
I smiled softly then looked at my grandpa.
"Give your old man a hug, Asher." He demanded.
I chuckled then hugged my grandpa. The last time I saw them was when I was only ten years old so it was nice to see them yet again and instead of them visiting me and my parents, i'll be officially living with them from here on out.
"Let's go out to the car now." My grandpa said then he started walking outside.
I started to follow after him with my grandma. When we got to the car, I looked it over. It looked pretty expensive and slick. Granted, my parents had expensive cars too, but nothing like this.
"You can put your bags in the trunk." My grandpa said.
I nodded then I set my luggage and traveling bag into the trunk before walking around the car to the back seat. I climbed into the back seat and buckled up. Once my grandparents got situated, we were off. We left the airport and headed straight into the heart of England.
"Welcome to England, my child." My grandma said.
I smiled brightly as I looked out the window, seeing all the buildings and landmarks. England is truly magnificent and I still can't get over the fact that i'll be living here from now on.
A little while later, we reached my grandparents house. It looked expensive, but also a little historic. I grabbed my bags from the trunk once I got out then headed into the house. When I walked in, I saw a bunch of paintings and statues and other expensive things.
"Come. Let me show you to your room." Grandma said then she started walking up the stairs and I followed after her.
When we got to my room, I noticed that it was decked out with expensive sleek bedding and there were paintings on the walls. I even had my own desk where I can do homework at and there was a really nice and big bathroom in my bedroom too.
"Now, why don't you unpack and relax. Dinner will be ready soon." She said then started walking out of my room when she stopped and turned back around.
"Oh and another thing. Tomorrow, we're going to go check out the school you'll be enrolling in so make sure you get some sleep okay?" She said then left me alone.
At first, I sighed sadly and pouted. Great, now i'll get to see what kind of students that are at my new school. At least i'll get to see who i'm up against instead of just being dumped right into the mixture. I collapsed onto my bed and stared up at the ceiling, still feeling a bit overwhelmed about living with rich grandparents. After a minute, I stood back up and walked over to my window. I pulled the curtains back and looked out the window to see all of London. It looked truly amazing and I still feel like living here is just a distant memory.
