Jesse's POV
At this moment exactly I regretted opening the door for Cameron Jones. I had forgotten that wherever she went, trouble hollered along by her shoes like a stubborn piece of toilet paper.
The man at the front of the group who seemed to be the leader was walking towards us slowly. It's not like we were going anywhere. We had no way we had of escaping
When he finally arrived from his leisure walk, he bent down at Cameron's window and knocked on it loudly and obnoxiously. At the same time, the roar of the engines came to a seize.
"Open up princess," he says with a devilish smile.
Cameron looks at me and then back at the blond haired boy.
"say or do anything, and we die," she said slowly to make sure I understood.
I was too stunned to acknowledge what was going on and was still looking at the guy outside. He had a long blonde hair that ended at his shoulders and his eyes looked black and red from the headlights shining on them. He looked like the type of guy my Hispanic mom would see in public and start bitching loudly about in Spanish.
Cameron made another stupid move ( they seemed to be the only ones she made) and rolled down the window half-way.
"Oh, are you scared of me now," he coos.
He looked to his side expectantly and his followers started laughing loudly and starting the engines.
"Look, Haze I can explain thi-"Cameron started only to be cut off by the guy whose name was apparently Haze. He put his hand through the window and unlocked the door. Cameron was pulled out of the car and he put the side of her head on the trunk of the car and held her hands behind her.
She let out out a painful hiss and tried to get out of his hold which made him tighten it. He whistled like he was calling for a cab and two of his followers stood behind him. Each of them where easily twice my size. The one on the left drew a sliding pocket knife and the blade popped out with a chilling sound you would expect a recently sharpened blade to make.
"You're not supposed to be here" Haze growled.
I hid out of sight under the dashboard and questions kept running through my head as I waited for my brain to start functioning. Who was he? How did Cameron know his name and why was she being pulled up against the trunk of her car and being threatened with a knife?
"You know what the rule is for a crossing our territory?" He breathed into her ear.
My mind started to put two and two together. A mob of scary looking guys on bikes and Cameron's reluctance to come here before.
They were a gang.
"You wouldn't dare, Holden isn't dead you know," she said boldly.
My breath caught in my through as I thought of how I could get us out of this situation. Haze and his two minions either didn't see me or were simply ignoring me. I thanked the lord I was practically impossible to notice and opened the door slowly.
Cameron was still against the hood and was still persistent. She had a fearless look on her face and seemed to be over the shock. But her eyes said otherwise.
"You have no idea what you just started princess. You just declared a war,"
Even while being held down and being threatened with a knife, Cameron couldn't stop her self from speaking her mind.
"I swear to god you're being so fucking dramatic Haze, this is why it took your dumbass so long to become take your brother's place." She rolled her eyes
I knew that wasn't going to end well so I prepared myself for my death and practically flew out of the car. Before the rest of the bikers registered what was happening, I kicked Haze hard behind his knee. He lost his balanced and Cameron got it of his grip and ran straight for the crowd of weapon clad gang members,
Like I said one stupid decision after another.
"Get in the car Cameron!" I yelled.
I was certain she heard me but kept running towards them. I didn't have time to drag her stubborn self back here because right after I said that my eyesight was blocked by a gigantic fist. I was put off balance for a few seconds when I felt the contact of his fist on my face.
I regained my balance and the only thing I felt was rage . It was Haze.
I thought I had avoided any punches tonight when Cameron got me out of my house.
The memory of what had happened just before Cameron knocked on our door was the only one playing in my mind and I lost it. I put all the anger I had from today into this one punch. I swung my arm like I had practiced so many times before hoping to do it on a different face. But this one did just fine.
It felt exhilarating and satisfying for about 3 seconds. And then it started to hurt like shit. I stopped myself from crying out in pain and didn't stay to watch him plummet to the ground and ran toward the direction I saw Cameron go in. I avoided the mob easily since they were all hollering over their leader.
I was starting to lose hope when a motorbike zoomed towards me and stopped right in front of me. It was Cameron.
"Get on brace-face," she yelled over the noise.
I didn't have to be told twice and hopped on. She drove off while my one foot was still on the ground. When the gang had realized what had just happened, different voices started exclaiming loudly and some tried to catch up to us.
One voice came out loud and clear. It was Hazes.
"This is war!"
