ONCE UPON A TIME... There lived a boy named Jack (actually, he was a little too old to be called a boy). He was high-spirited and lived on the edge of a small town with his mother.
His father had kept the family going by doing small scale farming and odd jobs around the town.
When rumours started spreading about a bloodthirsty Vampires living in a strange land above; beyond the clouds and stretch of treetops, Jack's father sets out to slay the Beast...
And (you guessed it, didn't you?) never returns.
After a few years of scarce food and no form of enjoyment, whatsoever, Jack finds his father's possessions. Since he had never believed in the Beast, it shocks him to find the endless wooden stakes among his father's belongings. His mother tells him to try and sell the stakes in order to make money for their daily needs.
But who would buy a wooden stake? Who would pay money for it? No one. He knew this very well.
Because Jack was actually nothing like the other Jacks; you may know. He didn't roll down a hill and crack open his skull... Nor did he jump over candlesticks for no particular reason.
But most importantly, Jack definitely did not get fooled into trading away a cow for a handful of 'magic' beans.
Yeah... That's not how the story went.
