"Why are we here?"
"Because we have to be."
Eliana did not look at her daughter as she drove on, rain on the windows like magma from a volcano. An odd comparison, certainly, but even in the cold and wet she was burning. It was the closest thing she could think of next to plasma.
Clairvoyance was a beautiful young girl. Her skin was flawless and pale, and her hair so light a blonde it would appear white depending on the light. Wide, cornflower blue eyes looked out the window, counting the drops as they rolled down, seeing which one would win the race, the things children often did in the car on a rainy day. Slowly, those beautiful eyes turned to her mother, the driver of the vehicle. She's the epitome of innocence.
"Mama, are we there yet?"
"Not quite, Clair," Eliana responded with a light sigh, leaning forward in her seat a bit and squinting so she could more clearly see the street. "We'll be there in...five minutes, yeah?"
Clairvoyance smiled brightly, beaming with childish joy, and she fell respectably silent as she returned her attention to the rain. Meanwhile, Eliana thought about where they were going, the evil of the place, the oddity.
You need this, she told herself, looking to her daughter once before quickly turning to the road again. As the mother had said, they did arrive at the Great White Building, as she had come to call it, and shivering in dread the blonder woman parked. Clairvoyance got out almost immediately, pulling her little yellow hood over her precious little head , but Eliana was stone still. She couldn't move, and her knuckles had gone white from clenching the steering wheel far too tightly. 629Please respect copyright.PENANASFAg6r8giq
Clairvoyance knocked on the window, causing the older one to flinch and look over at her.
"C'mon, mama!"
Eliana nodded stupidly, then slowly she unbuckled, left the car, and into her waiting hell.
The inside was even whiter than the outside, terrifyingly spotless and rather devoid of color save the intricate rugs which dotted the white marble floor and a few pictures over yonder in a separate room.
A lady with a curly plume of deep red hair looked up and smiled a most charming smile. "Hello, ma'am. Visiting someone?"
Eliana didn't respond until she was up to the counter. She stared at the woman with half-crazed, pale blue eyes, and rested a hand on Clairvoyance's hooded head. The red-head, however, would see nothing, and her smile would soften with immediate understanding. 629Please respect copyright.PENANAqc1ygEJ94W
"Why are you here, ma'am?" she pressed gently. Eliana's eyes burned with fire -- tears, as it were -- and stroked Clairvoyance's hair.
"You see this...blank area next to me?" the mother asked terrified. The red-head nodded. "This...nothing...I see my daughter there. She talks to me, like she's still there."
"I am still here, mama!" the girl below her pouted, and Eliana let out a single sob and hugged the imaginary body to her.
"She died five years ago," Eliana whimpered, lips twisting into a deep frown as she cried more freely. 629Please respect copyright.PENANA50hRQ3zSaF

"We're here because we need to be."
The red-head nodded simply. Schizophrenia. Too many people in this hospital have that curse.
