After hearing the bell ring, I head to my Chemistry class. I see the popular girls hanging out by their lockers. I hide behind a wall and grab my soundproof earbuds that my little sister got me for my birthday last year. I love them a lot, they are purple and have a skull on earbud. I press them into my earbuds and turn on my playlist. I scroll through my playlist and find my favorite song, Point of No Return By Kansas. I press play and then head to my Chemistry class.
I put my hands in my jean pockets and pressed my thumb to the beat of the music. I see the popular girls up ahead but I just keep my head forward and my hands in my pocket. I walk past them and see them stop and stare at me. I just take a deep breath and keep on walking. Do not want to deal with Satan's kids.
"Just keep on walking, just keep on walking" I kept saying to myself until I felt a pair of hands press onto my back, making me lose my balance and falling almost flat faced to the floor. I get back up and turn around to see who did that to me just now. It was none other than Kaison's current girlfriend, Marissa Leavenworth.
"Maybe you should watch where your going, klutz" she says while laughing with a big grin on her face. God I want to smack her so badly!!
"Well, maybe you should watch where you put your expensive shoes. Don't want to get them dirty do we?" I say while grabbing my earbuds that are by my feet. When I went to go grab them Marissa puts a foot on them, crushing an earbud into pieces.
"Oops, my bad" she says while lifting up her foot from them and laughs. God, I really hate her. These earbuds weren't cheap!!
"You owe me a new pair of earbuds you brat!!" I exclaim at her. I put my hands into a fist and then I realize that my knuckles have already turned white. She stops laughing and then turns around with an angry look on her face. That angry look does not look good on her. I want to laugh but I will later.
"What did you say to me?" she finally asks after standing there for a minute with that angry look still plastered on her face.
"You heard me. You owe me a new pair of -" I started to say until I felt a well manicured hand punch me in the face making me fall down to the floor yet again. I open up my eyes and see Marissa standing there above me with her sidekicks standing next to her. This is not going to end well for me. Marissa bends down on her knees and gets close to my face. Wow, this girl wears a lot of eyeliner and other types of makeup.
"Nobody talks to me like that. You hear me. You better keep your mouth shut and know your place. Got It?" she asks me with a sneer look on her face.
"Oh Marissa, did you beat her up without me?" I hear a guys voice say. Marissa gets up and walks over to that voice. Urgh, it's Kaison. I hate this guy even more than Marissa. I rub my head and then slowly get up until I am face to face with the most annoying guy in the world.
"Get back down on the floor, dog" I hear Kaison say. I take a step back and cross my arms, while rolling my eyes. This guy needs to leave. I am most definitely not his dog. I will not do what he says.
"Or what?" I say to him.
"Or I will have Marissa punish you again. Yet or I will" I hear him say while putting his hand on the locker behind me making him sound so tough. Again, he does not scare me. But he does need a breath mint though. His breath stinks.
I roll my eyes yet again and turn around to leave and pick up my backpack. But Kaison blocks me with his other hand on the other locker making it impossible for me to leave. Great, now I am late for Chemistry class.
"Can you like move, your way to close to me" I say to him while crossing my arms again.
"Why, you don't like it? Does it make you nervous, yet...horny?" he says with a smirk on his face. Oh hell no! I unwrap my hands and put them into a fist yet again. He sees my hands and then looks back at me.
"Ooh, someone is being a little feisty, take your best shot little girl" he says while backing up and putting his arms out wide. Is he for real right now? I don't have time for this, I need to head my Chemistry class.
I take a deep breath and release my fists. I don't have time for his ridiculous games. I pick up my backpack, grab my broken earbuds and walk away. Kaison grabs my arm and stops me in my tracks yet again making me drop my broken earbuds and backpack in the process. Can he just leave me alone? Doesn't he have a class to get to as well?
"What do you want now? I'm late for Chemistry class" I tell him in an angry mood.
"I am not done with you Ainslee" he says with a devilish grin. God, this guy is truly Satan's son.
"Oh, I think she is Kaison. Let her go" I hear someone else say. I turn my head and see that it is my best friend, Dominick. Oh thank God!! Thank you Dom!!
"Stay out of this nerd!" Kaison exclaims. Dom gets closer to him grabs Kaison by the wring of his shirt and lifts him closer to his face.
"I said, let her go" Dominick growls under his breath. Yeah, you really don't want to mess with him when he's pissed. Kaison lets go of my arm and Dom releases his grip on Kaison. He picks up my broken earbuds and I pick up my backpack and we head on out to our class.
"You really should stop getting yourself into these kinds of situations Ains" he says while wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
"It wasn't even my fault. I was minding my own business and before I knew it, Kaison shows up when I am down. He called me a dog and told me to sit back down. Now, I am going to have a bruise on my face for a week now" I say while rubbing my cheek. This is going to be easy to hide, with just a little makeup.
"Well, your glad that I was there before he did anything. Now let's head to Chemistry class okay?" he says while messing up my hair a bit.
"Yeah, I have never been more excited to get to my Chem class" I say while laughing a little bit.
"Same here"
We arrive at our dreaded Chemistry class. I don't like this class but it's the one class that I don't have see or hear Kaison and his group of demented friends. I swear all they think about is parties and hot girls. I get that they are rich too, but you don't have to be mean about it and show it to everyone. I'm rich but I don't care. Being rich is not about being the best, so don't be rude to others. That's how you lose your friends. And before you know it, you will be all alone in your big penthouse or mansion with nothing to do.
Like all days do, Chemistry class ends and so does our free period. I head to my locker and grab what I need to bring home which would be my math homework. I don't like this class either, but I need it in order to graduate high school. I zip up my backpack and toss across my shoulder and shut my locker making a loud clanging sound. I then grab my phone out of my backpack and see a message from my new stepmom.
"I need you to pick up some Groceries from the store. I need you to make some dinner tonight for your brother and sister. Your dad and I are going out. Don't call me unless it's an emergency"
I finish reading it and stick my phone back into my pocket. Of course she needs me to do that. I'm not going to make anything, I'm just going to pick up some Pizza and call it good. I meet up with my siblings and we head home to our house.
"Can't believe I got Geometry homework on a Monday. I swear the teachers hate us and want us to suffer" Noah says crossing his arms in a disappointed voice.
"I have to agree. I have English and History homework due by tomorrow. How about you Ains?" my little sister Kinsley asks me.
"I agree with the both of you on that. And I have Math homework. Luckily I got most of it done in my free period. I will be glad to help you guys if you need me too." I reply to the both of them making them smile and laugh a little bit.
We arrive back at home a few minutes later and went to go sit at the dinner table to finish up our homework. Luckily, I was able to get it all done and help my siblings with a few questions. After finishing up I check the time on the oven clock. And the time reads 7:36pm. Wow, we've been doing homework for 3 hours. Better go pick up pizza before the place closes.
"Alright guys, who wants some pizza for dinner?" I ask them with a smile plastered on my face.
"I do" both of my siblings say simultaneously.
"Okay. I will be right back. Luckily the pizza place is just a couple of blocks away. Don't throw any parties while I'm gone. "I say with a bit of laughter in my voice.
"I don't make any promises." Noah says with laughter in his voice. Kinsley slaps the back his head stopping him from laughing. Got to love these two so much.
I grab my keys from the kitchen counter and head out to grab some Pizza. I didn't ask them what kind they wanted. Oh well, I will just surprise them when I get home. Once I get to the pizza place, it starts to rain. Weird, the weather didn't report any rain today. I guess that's what we get for living in this dreary town. I rush into the place and see one of my favorite people that works here.
"Hey Ainslee. That rain sure did come down out of nowhere, huh" he says while waving and giving me one of his famous smiles.
"Hey Mr. Nor-wood. And yeah it sure did. Didn't think to bring an umbrella with me, heh" I reply while trying to dry my hair of some sort.
"So what can I get for you tonight, the usual?"
"Yeah. You know me so well" I reply while grabbing my wallet out of my pocket.
"No need. It's on the house tonight" Mr. Nor-wood says while gesturing me a no with his hands.
"Oh, wow. Um, thanks. You didn't need to do that" I say with a little bit of sympathy in my voice.
"Yes, I did. You look like you've been through a lot today. How's your family doing?"
"We're doing alright. Still hate the witch that's living with us."
"Trust me Ainslee, it will get better for you guys. Just hang in there and stay strong."
"Thank you Mr. Nor-wood" I say while leaning over the counter and watching him finish making the pizza.
"No problem. And please, call me Carlisle. It sounds like a vampire name, I don't know why my dear mother named me that. I don't know what she was thinking" he says with laughter in this voice. He puts the pizza in the oven and he goes to sit in the nearest chair. I follow behind him and we sit down and talk until the pizza was done baking.
"Well, it was nice catching up with you Carlisle. See you next time!" I say while grabbing the pizza and waving goodbye.
"See you next time Ainslee" he says while waving back and then goes back to cleaning up the place.
He is a family friend of my dad. There are times where he will pay for our food or give us a discount. He is like an uncle to me and I appreciate him so much. I'm glad that I can go to him to talk about anything. I go put my pizza into the back of my car until I heard some people arguing with someone. I hide behind the dumpster and peek out to see who it was.
I see two big built guys beating up someone who I can't get a glance at. One of the men move a little bit and I see that it was a high school kid. It was Kaison. Wait, what?! What I did next was the most stupidest thing I shouldn't have done. I got involved with this fight without trying. Oh shit.
"You still owe Boss money. Where is it?" one of the angry men say while picking Kaison by the collar of his shirt.
"I said I don't have it yet. I will give it to you next week. I promise" Kaison replies to the angry man.
"He needs it now -" the man says until I step away from the dumpster to go to my car. Shit, he saw me.
"Whose there?" he says while tossing down Kaison. I try to run away but before I could leave the scene of the crime a pair of hands grab me and pick me up onto his shoulder.
"Let me go you idiot!!" I scream while kicking and punching the well built guy. Of course, it didn't work. He tosses me down a couple of feet away from Kaison. The other well fit guy stands in front of bruised up and broken Kaison and picks him up again, pinning him to the wall, hard. The rain starts to downpour right about now. And we're all soaken wet to the point that it's hard to see what's going on.
"What's a girl like you doing out here in the alleyway this late at night?" the other guy who picked me up and tossed me down asked while getting down close to me. I look away from him. He grabs my chin and tilts my head towards him again. His breath smells like cigarettes and whiskey. I squirm my way out of his grasp and take a deep breath.
"I was just picking up a pizza" I say, regretting telling this man anything.
"Then what were you doing standing behind that dumpster then?" he says grabbing my neck making it hard for me to breathe.
"Let her go you -" Kaison yells out but was interrupted by the man punching him in the ribs.
"Shut Up Kaison!!" the man yells while punching him again and dropping him roughly. He has a hard time breathing once the man dropped him. I need to get him out of here!
"I-I heard people arguing and a loud noise. I'm sorry!" I say stuttering a bit with a few tears dripping down my face.
"Well sorry ain't going to cut it bitch" one of the men say. He grabs my arms and pins me down to the ground and yanks off the jacket I was wearing earlier. He starts to slowly remove my shirt and I let out a small scream.
"Go ahead and scream, nobody is here to save you" the man says to me. I close my eyes letting more tears drip down my face onto my wet hair. I kick and scream until I look up and see someone fighting the guy that was on me. It was Kaison fighting back. I need to help him.
I look around and see a baseball bat sitting by a couple bags of trash. I quickly and quietly go grab and and stand there with the bat face to face with the man who tossed me. He cracks his knuckles and laughs with that ugly grin spread across his face.
"Put the bat down Princess" he says to me. I stand my ground and I hit him in the leg. He goes down on his knees cursing at me.
"You bitch-" the other guy says before he was interrupted by a punch from Kaison.
"Let's go!!" I hear Kasion scream at me. I drop the bat, grab my jacket and we both run as fast as we could. I see that Kaison is starting to slow down. I go wrap one of his arms around my neck and I help him to my car. I open it up and set him down in the passenger seat. I close the door and run to the other side, open and close the driver side door and start the engine. So glad I left my key in the ignition.
"Go, Go!!" I hear Kaison scream at me. I put my car into drive and drove away as fast as I could. I hear a few gun shots but before they could reach us we were already out of sight. I rush home, going over the speed limit and passing the stop signs without stopping. We reach my house in a matter of minutes and I go help Kaison out of the passenger seat.
"I'm okay. I can walk myself" he says while getting down on his knees.
"Yeah, right. Come on Kaison" I grunt while wrapping his arm around my neck again and help him to my front door. I open and close the door. My siblings see me and Noah rushes over and grabs Kaison's other arm. We help him to our couch and lay him down.
"Kinsley, go get the First Aid kit and Noah, go get him some clean clothes. Please!!" I yell at the both of them. They run to go get those things and I help him back up. I take off his wet letter-man jacket and his grey shirt revealing a few cuts and bruises. Kinsley rushes down with the first aid kit and hands me the peroxide.
"Can you get me a washcloth and something for him to bite down on?" I ask her. She nods and goes to the kitchen to get me a washcloth and something for him. She rushes back to me and I hear Noah come running down the stairs with a pair of dry clothes. They both stand there with a worried look on their face. I will explain this to them later.
"Why would I need to bite down on this, HOLY FUCK!" Kaison questions while screaming out the last part and biting down on a wooden spoon. I put the peroxide on his wounds and let them sit there for a few seconds. I wipe them away and see that they aren't that deep, but deep enough for a few stitches. I grab the needle and thread and tie the last part of the thread.
"You need a couple of stitches okay. Scream if you need to, plus take deep breaths as well. Don't want you passing out on me" I say to him. He nods and gets prepared for the stitches. Noah goes and stands by Kaison.
"You can squeeze my hand if you need to or you can punch this pillow" Noah explains to Kaison. By the time he was finishing with that, I was done with the stitches on his wound. Our mom taught me this just in case someone in my family got hurt. Or in this case, something like this.
We help him lay back down for a little bit and I go put the first aid stuff away on the kitchen. Once I put the stuff away I hear my siblings walk into the kitchen. Yeah, I need to explain this to them now.
"What the "hell" was that Ains?" I hear Noah exclaim to me.
"Long story short, gang people and he was being beaten up. I got caught. Fought our way out of it and now, we're here" I try to explain the best I could leaving out the part where I was almost taken advantage of. They don't need to hear that part. I see Kinsley standing there and then she wraps her arms around me letting a few tears fall down her face.
"I'm just glad that your okay Ains" Kinsley whispers to me. I pat her head and she removes her grip from me.
"Yeah, I'm just glad your okay. And I have one question?" Noah asks me.
"What is it Noah?" I reply with a questioned look while crossing my arms.
"Where's the pizza?" he asks me. I roll my eyes and turn to go back to the living room.
"You Idiot" Kinsley says while slapping the back of his head. They both argue for a few minutes and then head back upstairs.
I head back to the living room and see Kaison still laying there while watching our television. He sees me standing there behind the couch and turns it off. I see that he is still in his wet clothes. Wonder why he didn't change when we left the room? Not going to ask because that would be stupid to ask.
"Hey.." I say while standing there behind the couch. He puts the remote down on our coffee table and gets up from the couch. I walk around the couch and stand a couple steps away from him.
"You sure you want to get up right now, you were just in a fight and have stitches."
"I feel fine, thanks for your concern nurse Ainslee" he says with a smirk on his face. And of course he's flirting which is a little weird since he hates my guts.
"Sorry for asking. Don't you want to change out of those clothes into these new ones?" I ask gesturing to the wet clothes and the dry clothes. Oh great, I just asked the one question I didn't want to ask. Now I'm embarrased.
"Um, yeah. I can. Where's your bathroom?" he asks while rubbing the back of his head and his face flushed. Wow, I've never seen this side of him before.
"Up the stairs and to your l-left" I say stuttering a little bit and feeling a little flushed as well. Wait, why am I feeling like this, I hate this guy!!
"Thanks" he says while grabbing the other clothes and heads upstairs. I grab some washcloths from the kitchen and try to dry up some of the water that is on the couch. Oh shoot! I should go change out of my wet clothes, I almost forgot about myself. I was so busy helping this idiot that I forgot to change out of my clothes.
I head upstairs and I hear the water running in our upstairs shower. I guess he decided to take a shower. I smirk and open the door a crack. I get a glance of him wrapping the towel around his waist. I look away before he could see me. I rush to my room and close my bedroom door. Oh my god, I can't believe that I did that. I take a few deep breaths, grab some clothes and rush to my small bathroom.
Still can't believe I did that. What was I thinking?! I hate him and he hates me. I was only helping him because he was getting beaten by gang members. I can't believe that happened and I hope they don't find us. I shouldn't be thinking about that, I should just focus on the fact of how I am going to explain this to my dad. I strip my wet clothes off and get into the warm shower. I rinse myself clean and get out a few minutes later. I dry myself clean and wrap my towel around my body.
I grab my clean, dry clothes and put them on. I dry my hair the best I can with my towel and put it into a messy hair bun. After getting into a new pair of warm clothes I exit my bathroom and see Kaison wandering around my room.
"What are you doing in here?" I ask him. I notice that he is only wearing the long black sweatpants and white socks that Noah gave him. I swear I saw Noah lay down a shirt for him. Oh geez. I blush a little bit and he notices.
"So this is the nerdy girls room. Never seen a room like this. I was expecting something different" he says while walking around my room stopping at my dresser with a photo of me and my family with our actual mother in it. My dad took down every picture of her and put up different pictures of him and his new wife. But he does have a picture of our actual mom in his office and in his wallet.
I realize that I spaced out and see Kaison holding that picture. I rush over there and take it out of his hands, turn around and wrap it around my chest. Nobody touches that picture but me.
"You okay?" he asks me with his face expressions changing. He walks over and gently puts his hand on my shoulder, startling me. I turn around and realize that we're only breaths away from each other. I take a few steps back and go set the picture on my nightstand.
"I'm fine" I lie. He notices that something is wrong and walks over to me wrapping his arms around me. Startled, I realize that my pals are touching his chest. I can feel his heart beating, in nice slow beats. His chest is also warm. I start to cry and he keeps his arms wrapped around me. We stay like this for a few minutes and I finish crying.
"I'm sorry" I continue saying while grabbing a towel and giving it to him.
"It's okay Ainslee" he says while wiping away the tears that I caused. He gets close to me and wipes away the rest of the tears that were forming on my face. I look up at him and see a small smile form onto his face. What is this boy doing to me?
I take the towel and put it into the hamper with my wet clothes. And go sit down on my bed. Kaison sits down next to me and we sit there for a few minutes in silence until Kaison breaks the silence.
"Why?" he asks me whispering while glancing at me.
I turn my head towards him, "Why what?"
"Why did you save me? I thought you hated me?"
"I do. But -"
"But why didn't you leave me in that alleyway, why didn't you just go home?"
"I don't know, I just couldn't let them hurt people. It's just not right."
"Well, thanks for helping me the best that you can" he says while getting up and getting on his knees in front of me. He puts his hands on my knees and waits for me to answer.
"No problem. You owe me big time. Who were those people?" I ask him putting my hands on his hands. He hears my question and gets back up and walks a few steps away from me.
"I work for those guys. I am part of the Black Dragons, one of the most dangerous gang groups and I owe our boss money. Big Time, that's why they were beating me up. As a warning. Now that they saw you, they will be coming after you as well" he explains to me.
"Oh god, why can't you just leave the group? They almost killed you back there!!" I exclaim at him making him turn around.
"I can't just leave the group. If I do, they will kill me and the rest of my family. I've already lost my mother, I can't lose my little sister too!" he says while grabbing both of my arms in a strong grip. I put my hands on his cheeks and see the tears falling down on his face. I wipe them away with my thumbs and he loosens is grip from my arms. I see the hurt in his eyes and I wrap my arms around him.
"I'm so sorry Kaison. You shouldn't have to go through this alone" I whisper to where he can only hear me. He wraps his arms around me and we just stand there like this for a few minutes. Again, I hear his heart beat, nice and slow. I know what he is going through.
We both lost someone close to us and we keep it to ourselves. Take it out on others who don't deserve it, hide the pain inside of us and pretend that nothing is wrong. Like how he takes out his anger on me during school. He does it to impress his friends and girlfriend, but in reality, I know why. He's hurt, broken, scared and does whatever it takes for others approval. I take it out on him because I'm hurt, broken and angry as well. Now that I learned what he's going through right now, I have to be here for him. No matter what. I may not like him, but he doesn't deserve to have this kind of life. But I guess there is always a dark side to this reality and some of us have to live with it for the rest of our lives, which is Kaison and I.
We break out of the hug and just stand there wondering what to say next. Of course he breaks the silence, yet again.
"What happened to your mother if you don't mind me asking" he asks me while caressing my cheek.
"Sh-she passed away three years ago. From cancer. It was hard watching her leave like that. But what I hate the most is that my dad got married a year later right after losing our mom!" I reply while wiping away the tears that were forming in my dark blue eyes.
"I'm so sorry. And he shouldn't have done that. Especially so soon" Kaison says, saying the right words.
"Thanks. And yours? If you don't mind me asking?" I ask crossing my arms and looking down at the floor. He walks around and sits down on my comfortable computer chair. He puts his hands down on his knees and takes a deep breath.
"My mom was killed in an accident. In which it wasn't an accident. She was killed by our rivalry gang. I was so angry when the cops came up to our door saying that my mother was killed in a car accident. I knew it was a murder, but the cops just ignored me and labeled it as an accident. After that, I joined the Black Dragons so that I can find the man responsible for killing my mother" Kaison exclaims while getting up and putting an arm onto the wall revealing his dark Black Dragon Tattoo on his back.
I go closer to him and feel his dragon tattoo. I love it, but he is now trapped in this gang for the rest of his life and there is no escape. I am going to do whatever it takes to help him out find who killed his mother. And I don't care what I have to do, I will do whatever it takes.
He turns around and puts his fore finger under my chin. I stare into his dark chocolate brown eyes while he stares into my dark aqua blue eyes. Then he notices that I am no longer staring at his eyes. I am now staring at his luscious full pink lips. He gives me a small smirk and I look away from him and take few steps back from him. He grabs my wrist and pulls me in close.
I realize that we are breaths away from each other again. I breathe in a few rapid breaths until Kaison's lips land on mine. He wraps his arms around my waist and I wrap my arms around his neck. His breath smells like cigarettes and peppermint gum. He presses his tongue into mine and let him enter. He breaks the kiss a few seconds later and takes a few deep breaths afterward.
I lift my hand to my lips and feel them. That was my first kiss and it was breathtaking. I just had my first kiss with the most annoying person on earth and I enjoyed it. He stares back at me and breaks the silence one again.
"Sorry about that. And don't tell me. That was your first time" he asks me while rustling his hand through his dark brown hair. I giggle and blush a little bit.
"Yeah, it was. But don't worry, I enjoyed it" I replied back with my face now flushed a bright red. He walks back towards me and kisses me again and again, and again.
"So, I have one question to ask you" he asks me with a questioned look on his face while getting down onto his knees. Okay, this is a little weird.
"What is it Kaison?" I say with a smirk on my face.
"Can you please keep this a secret Ainslee?" he asks me with a pleading look spread across his thin chiseled face.
"I'll keep your secret, for a price Mr. Lockwood" I reply back with a smirk still spread across my face.
This has to be one of the most craziest things that I have ever said in my life. Now what am I supposed to do. I have Kaison, the most popular guy literally begging at my feet.
Hmm, this is going to be interesting.
