Austin, Corah, and I walked in. I couldn't believe it. The first person I saw was Luke Daniels. I hid behind Corah. "Hide me..." I whispered. "Hmm? Why?" She looked up. "Ohh! Hey Luke!" She yelled across the room. He glanced over, smiled, and waved. There weren't many other people besides Edward James, Sasha Matthews, and of course, Michael Grayson. They were all having the time of their lives. They all looked so... happy - especially Luke.
Just then, Corah started dragging me somewhere. And that somewhere was right over to Luke! Just as he noticed me, Corah had already gone off to find Michael. "Great. Just great." I thought. "I'm alone with Luke. Without Corah."
"Hey, Cassidy," He said. "Cool! You're here too! I thought I'd be alone with Michael." I blushed. "Yeah, cool. We're both here!" I tried my best, but those were the only words I could think of. He laughed a little and went off over to where Michael and Corah were, chatting.
For some reason, I felt relieved and proud with myself. I followed Luke over to where they were. They were laughing, but I didn't know why. Just then, Taylor appeared behind us. "Hey guys! Enjoying the party so far?" She asked. "Yeah, its great!" Michael replied. "And I really like the mini cupcakes" Taylor giggled and walked off.
Just then, everyone got together in the middle of the room, and we followed. We sat down on blue beanbag chairs covered in beads. I looked up, and Luke sat right next to me. My heart skipped a beat. Then Taylor announced we were going to play a game. The name of it was "Spirits". I saw Corah shivering.
Taylor explained. The point of Spirits is for one person to be in the middle while everyone around them holds hands and closes their eyes. They chant some words, and then, its supposed summon the nearest spirit.
"So who's gonna be in the middle?" Taylor asked. Luke raised my hand. "Cass would!" He smiled at me. I smiled back. Michael and Corah agreed. "Come on Cass, you can do it!" They said. I stood up and went to the middle of circle.
"Okay, now everybody say this with me. Acina Inopane, Bakeno Marnena, Conuto Utaite!"
I couldn't see. Even the candles lit around us weren't enough to fully illuminate the room. I heard a voice. Not a familiar voice, an odd, echo, loud voice. I felt something grab at my neck. I was pulled down by something..no... someone. It was definitely a person. I quickly opened my eyes. I was on my knees, trembling and shaking. I stood up and everyone opened their eyes. They looked up at me. "So? What happened?" Corah asked. I tried to catch my breath, to breathe. Luke came over to me. He took my hand, and helped me down to the couch.
"You alright, Cass? You seem pretty scared. What did you see?" "I couldn't see.. There was... And then..." I tried to speak, but I was scared. Luke got up and got me some water. "Its okay, Cass. Nothing can hurt you here." He put his hand on my shoulder. "Trust me, you're safe with us."
That was it. Right then, the lights went out. Corah and I screamed. I held Luke's hand tight. I didn't care. We stood up. There was blood on the walls. It was almost ice cold. I started shaking, and Luke held me tight in his arms. I felt warm and tingly inside, but now was not the time. "I'll be back" I said, and ran off.
I went down into the basement, using my phone for light. I didn't see anything. I went upstairs, to the balcony. I saw a dark figure. "Hello?" I got a step closer, and it disappeared. I went over and looked over the edge of the balcony. Just then, I heard a laugh. And it sounded like the same laugh from a couple minutes ago.
Then it happened.
I was pushed. It was a 23 foot drop, but I fell the whole way. I heard Luke, Corah, and Austin screaming, watching me fall. Now, I could see the ground. There was a huge rock. I knew I wouldn't get out of this alive. And I was right. A couple of seconds later, I hit the rock.
That night, I died.
