Each and every moment was agony. Ariel knew now, why her father wanted her to stay in the sea. The land was painful to her feet, causing them to break open and bleed no matter how lightly she moved. And the light! Nothing was blocking it and it heated everything up so quickly, she felt like she needed to shed all her clothes just to keep from melting. All of that and then the sound comes pounding like a herd of elephants into her eardrums, she felt like she was going deaf! Everything was too much, and she collapsed in the town center, covering her ears and screaming, begging for this to stop, to just go back to her home in the sea, where everything was safe, and quiet, and cool. Hard, rough hands grabbed her and she howled, the very sensation sending her deeper into agony. It couldn't get any worse than this. She was dying but was still very much painfully alive. She was wrenched to the castle, thrown before the prince she became human for, and his wife beside him. Still howling, she begged to die, to just let her misery end. It was all too hot, and too painful, and too loud. She was losing her mind!
The prince ordered her to the dungeons, and they locked her in a cell with no window, the only light coming from a torch lit where a guard was positioned. The air here was cooler, and Ariel had no need for her feet anymore, but it was far to late for the little mermaid, the only thought to ever run through her mind again constantly whimpered through bloodied and broken lips.
"Take me back, take me back, oh, please take me back..."
A/N: I notice that when you come up from under water everything is sharper and harsher, and figured that for someone who has never properly experienced that, there would be a high opportunity to receive sensory overload. Not completely dark, not light and fluffy either. Take it as you will.727Please respect copyright.PENANA8KnIBENSGt
