He felt useless.
There just wasn't anything he could do to help.
He had to let nature take its course but that was easier said than done when they weren't exactly natural. All four of them were higher than that yet, one of the four seemed to be an exception. This individual's healing factor seemed to follow that of nature yet it did not at the same time. As things seemed to get better, other things seemed to deteriorate over time but, somehow, it seemed to right itself in the end as if to say that something natural shouldn't have been tampered with to begin with.
This case was no different yet it seemed to be taking longer to right itself than it usually did.
Standing alongside the bed, Tyson looked down at the white-haired occupant that hadn't awakened ever since he passed out nearly ten days ago. The last time something like this happened, it only took the man a day or two to come around and he would be up and moving by the third. Evren had always been a special case that, when asked about medical wise, he'd be dismissed completely, which Tyson still never understood since his subordinate would never speak of it himself. And now, after ten days, there was no sign of waking.
Initially, the idea of placing the officer on life support came to mind but it simply could not be done due to the equipment shorting out continuously. The lights hanging above would flicker now and then but that's all they seemed to do really. That and anyone that tried to move him since then received a nasty shock similar to that of a taser.
When unconscious, Evren was practically untouchable.
He wasn't invincible but he wasn't that easy to get near either.
Glancing at the food that had been brought in not too long ago, Tyson found it a waste to let it sit there. He hadn't eaten all day but it wasn't like Evren was going to wake up to eat it. That much he knew to be true since a different meal was brought every day at the same hour in hopes the he would actually come around if he smelled something familiar at all.
The notion had good intentions though it had yet to bear any fruit.
It's never taken this long... Heating up the food on the plate, Ty took a bite of food as he watched for any sign of life on the otherwise slack features. "Why won't you wake up?"

This place again…
Walking around slowly as he cradled the side of his head, Evren wandered about a dark and barren expanse. Holding his hand up to shed a little light, he grimaced inwardly when no such source was produced. Eyes looking every which way produce no signs in indicating where he was going, headed, or came from.
In other words, he was hopelessly lost.
"Dammit…" He had been there before; that much he knew for certain. "What am I supposed to do?"
The last time he was there, he recalled walking aimlessly before coming across a tree.
It was the only thing present and after walking around it a few times, he had spotted several apples hanging from the high branches. When he went to get one, however, he was met by a head of blonde hair and when he circled around to see who the person was, they disappeared within the foliage before the tree itself vanished. Since then, he had neither come across that tree nor the individual hiding in it.
It was still a mystery.
How do I get out of here? he mused as he ran a hand through his hair. Looking in every direction, he heaved another sigh before trying to shed a bit of light once more. "Goddammit…"
Looking at his hands for a moment, mismatched eyes slowly rose to see a doorway standing before him.
Glancing over his shoulder then to the sides, Evren walked towards it before stopping several paces in front of it as it opened, revealing almost a blinding light. After observing the entrance for some time, the man proceeded forward.
Lowering his hand as the door closed behind him, Evren gave his eyes a moment to adjust before taking a look around.
Seeing nothing but a hall stretched out before him, he began to walk down the unfamiliar path.
There was the occasional door but nothing more. He heard the annoying hum of the florescent lights hanging above him but he had yet to see any people.
"Get back here you little brat!"
"Stay away from me!"
Catching the sound of pattering feet, the officer turned in time to see a child run by. Noting the trio of men chasing after him, Evren followed after them; speeding up only after hearing something hit the floor. Hearing a shout for help, he rounded the corner to see the boy pinned to the floor. As another call for help came, the white-haired officer grabbed a hold of one of the men, only to have the material of the shirt to slip through his fingers.
"Let go of me!" the youngest ordered.
"Hold still!"
Watching one of the three withdraw a syringe from their pocket, Evren attempted to grab a hold of their wrist though any attempt he made was in vain as he couldn't seem to get a grasp on anything.
"Let go!"
"Relax, kid," one said as he injected a clear liquid into the blonde's shoulder. "Relax…"
"Let go!" Being released, the child backed into the wall, scared to say the least. He then got to his feet. "L…leave m…me a…"
Seeing the kid totter, Evren took a knee to catch the child before he watch him fall through his arms and into that of the second man in white. Hearing a small whimper of annoyance and discomfort as the child was placed over the shoulder of one of the men, Evren followed after the trio in white as they began down the corridor. Watching the child weakly thrash about, the white-haired man followed just a bit closer. He then paused mid stride as a clouded, turquoise-colored eye cracked open. Taking a step back as his head began to hurt, Evren clutched at it after squeezing his own eyes shut. The debilitating throb grew steadily before soon forcing the man to take a knee. The talk of how troublesome the boy had been died away under the racing pulse the officer's heart before it all grew dark once more.
"L…let m…go…"
Catching the end of a weakening voice, Evren lifted his head to see himself in a small room. Looking around the cramped space, he spotted a tray of syringes filled in with various serums of several colors. Getting to his feet, he paused when he heard the sound metal clinking together. Turning in the direction of the sound, he hurried over to the fair-haired child that was strapped down to a chair.
"Hey."
"Ss…"
"Hey, c'mon. Wake up," Evren said softly, watching as the boy slowly started to come around. "Wake up."
Spotting the bluish-green eye first, the officer then took a step back when a jade-colored one open next. As the clouded pair of mismatched eyes began to gain focus, Evren held his head as the boy seemed to see him yet stare right through him at the same time. They soon shifted somewhat when the only door in the room opened up. Watching as the child began to fidget in his seat, pulling at the restraints, Evren looked over his shoulder to see yet another man in white walking in.
"Ah, you're awake," he said as he closed the door behind himself. "You are a troublesome young man." The child merely looked down at the rattling restraints cuffing his arms to chair. "Do stop that. We wouldn't want a repeat of last time would we?"
Seeing how the boy simply scowled as a reply, Evren brought a hand up to the side of his head as he felt a faint throb. Looking over at the man studying the various needles, Evren looked over at the boy that was trying to rid himself of his bondage.
The clinking sound was annoying but the white-haired man would tolerate it a bit longer as he watched the boy do his best to get the things off.
"Let me go," the blonde ordered sternly. "I won't say anything, just let me go home."
"Now you know you don't have a home, boy."
"Let go of me!" Small feet kicked about causing more noise. "Let go! Let go! Let go! Let-!" Looking at the needle being withdrawn from his shoulder, the child glared at the man before his gaze faltered suddenly. "Wha…"
"It's to help you relax a bit more," came the reply. "I'm going to need you to stay still; you do know that."
"Y…you…"
Watching as the child's hair was tousled; Evren slowly took a step forward when the boy's head tilted in his direction. Making out the will to keep fighting, the officer looked down at the restraints as the child shook them weakly. His attention then went towards the man that was approaching with another needle, this one filled with a pale green substance. Seeing how he was getting closer to the blonde, Evren stepped between the two of them, only to have the older man pass through him.
"Hold still," he said as he leaned in.
Clouded eyes watched the needle while their owner wiggled in his chair. Pressing back in his seat, he admitted a loud yelp when the shot was administered in his neck. His head bowed the moment the object was removed, leaving the officer to look towards the man to see that he was already coming back with another needle filled with something dark blue.
"Sss…stop," the boy murmured as his eyes began to dull. He then tensed as he felt the second needle before jumping at the third. "Ple…"
"Stop." It was wrong to have that child strapped to the chair while he was standing there. "Stop it," Evren ordered, swatting at the man's hands, simply to have a repeat of his earlier failure. "Stop this." It was inhumane to watch yet the man continued to do what he did, despite the pleas coming from the smaller male. "Stop it!"
"P-pl…"
Seeing how the boy was starting to slip into a more unconscious state, Evren looked to see the man in white walk back toward the one in the chair. He had but one needle left in his grasp.
"Stay awake," he ordered as he tilted the child's head up.
The child merely cracked his eyes open. "Please…" he trailed before allowing his head to fall back. "St…"
As the deadened gaze fell upon him, Evren shook his head when the man went to inject a red serum into the child's neck. "Stop it!"

Opening his eyes to the sound of lights flickering, Tyson stretched momentarily before looking up at the blinking bulbs. Feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand on it, he rubbed it slowly before looking over to see Evren twitching subtly. Leaning on the bed railing for a better look, the raven jumped when the metal shocked him. Seeing the man furrow his brow, Ty shook him by the shoulder only to be shocked harder than previously.
"Evren," he said, pulling his hand away to avoid any other contact, "wake up."
Calling his name several times, Tyson squeezed his hand into a fist before lightly shaking the man. Clenching his jaw at the series of shocks he received, shook the man harder before jumping at the sound of bulbs shattering. Shaking the man again, he flinched when he heard the overhanging bulbs break. Pulling the sheet over the unconscious one, the other one hunkered down until the falling bits of glass came to a stop. Picking his head up slowly, Ty looked around the darkened room before tugging the sheet down. When the emergency lighting didn't come on, the conscious male sighed heavily before holding up his hand to illuminate the room.
Casting a red glow, equally red eyes studied the white-haired male once he picked up on the man's heavy breathing. Making out the beads of sweat starting to run down his forehead, Tyson walked over to the bathroom and retrieved a damp towel. Wringing the thing out a he came back into the room, he paused midstride as he heard a low buzzing sound.
Poking his head out the door, the man looked up at the ceiling before covering his head as the lights in the hallway cracked then shattered to pieces. Glancing back at the man in bed, Tyson stormed back over to him the minute the television shorted out, followed by the radio.
Hurrying to the circuit breaker, he opened the door to be greeted by several dozen sparks before catching the sound of the overly amped circuit. Seeing a few lights go off, he slammed the door shut and pressed his hands against it, bracing himself for when the thing blew out completely.
"Evren!" Fanning away flames before the smoke could reach the smoke detectors, Tyson hurried back to the other officer. "You're causing a disaster! Wake up!" he ordered, shaking the man. He jumped at the shock, pulling a hand away when he saw the small bolt that shot off Evren. "Wake up!"
The shutters opened and closed.
The alarm buzzed on and off.
The only thing heard on the two-way radio was static and interference.
Everything in the room just about ran off of electricity.
"Evren!" Making a fist momentarily, the raven released it in favor of back handing the man. "Wake up!"
-†-
"Wake up."
Picking his head up slowly, Evren got to one knee as he cradled the side of his head. Watching as the blonde's eyelids started to shift, the officer got to his feet before looking over at the new person in white. Seeing how they were slowly rubbing the child's bandaged neck, Evren felt himself doing the same but with his own. All too soon was his attention pulled back to the boy as he let out a harsh sound.
"Drink this water."
Watching as the liquid dribbled down the corners of the child's mouth, Evren grimaced when the boy coughed up the rest. As he was picked up from the chair and placed on his own two feet, the boy stepped back, simply to buckle down to the floor.
Picking himself up then felt like a chore. His body felt as if it weighed a ton. His throat felt scratchy and his vision was getting hazy again.
"How are you feeling?" To that, the blonde tilted his head up before scooting back into the closest wall. "Don't you go running off now, alright?"
Watching as the individual exited, Evren slowly made his way over to the boy and took a knee. Extending a hand, he grimaced when the dark yellow hair slipped through his fingers. Noticing the tremors wracking the small frame in front of him, the officer leaned down and in to try to get a look at the child's face.
He never got a good look at it the first time but he was sure that it was the same boy he had run into by the tree when he had first got to the strange place.
Looking over his shoulder for a brief moment, Evren startled when clouded eyes stared in his general direction. When they didn't blink, he waved his hand slowly in front of the pallid face. Lowering his hand when he didn't get reaction, he followed the deadened gaze to see a silver tray lined with various syringes filled with other serums. Bringing his attention back to the boy, he watched what appeared to be tears welling at the edges of the boy's eyes. The imminent tears then ceased when the door opened once more to reveal two of the previous men that had been seen a while ago.
"Have you been a good boy for the doctor?" one asked.
"Continue to be a good boy and come with us," the second ordered as he snagged a hold of the boy's arm, pulling him to his feet. "Come on."
"I don't think he can walk."
"Is that so?" A yank on the captive's arm to have him slump on the floor confirmed the claim. "So you can't walk, huh?" The child leaned forward, tottering until he fell over completely. "Well, I'm not carrying him."
"He bit me last time," the first muttered as he glanced at the boy. "So, how do we transp-are you serious?"
Holding his own arm as he watched, Evren lost sight of the boy as he was dragged out of the room. Hurrying out into the hall, the officer ran after the pair as they walked down the corridor with the child in tow.
"Wait!" Evren shouted the trio rounded a corner.
"What are you-stop that, brat!"
Running down the hall, the white-haired male skidded to a stop as he caught the blonde in the process of trying to get free. The boy was pulling to get away while kicking at the man's legs when he was yanked back towards the pair.
"Hold still," the second ordered as he tried to grab the boy. "I thought you said he couldn't walk."
"I said I didn't think he could walk. I never said he couldn't."
"L…let g-go!" the smallest one whined as he pulled at his arm more. Older mismatched eyes could merely watch as their owner couldn't do anything. "Stop pulling on m-me!" The boy then looked around. "Help me!"
"He's a noisy little br-Dammit! He bit me…again!" the first groused, releasing the child.
"Idiot, that doesn't mean to let him go," the second chided as he snagged a hold of the boy. "You on the other hand were told to be a good boy." He removed his hand when the child tried to bite him before clamping his hand over his mouth, pushing him into a nearby wall. "Biting isn't nice. What if he gets an infection, hmm? Should I dislocate your jaw?" he asked as he began to tighten his hold on the other's face. He then caught the other's hand when he tried to hit him. "Should I dislocate this as well?"
Hearing the muffled sounds of growing discomfort, Evren walked over and touched the man's shoulder, sickened by the fact that nothing was tangible for him. Looking at the boy to see his eyes trembling, the officer frowned when the muffled sounds grew a bit louder.
"He's not gonna be able to eat if you dislocate his damn jaw, you know?" the other said as he rubbed his hand.
"I suppose you have a point," he replied as he focused on the boy. "You would need your mouth for that…but you only need one arm really."
Looking towards the man that removed his hand from the blonde's mouth, Evren scowled at the slight tilt of his head as he eyed the boy's captured arm. Seeing the man keep the other pinned down, he watched the blonde's eyes widened as the taller male began to pull on it.
Grabbing his own shoulder as he heard a pop, Evren watched as the child sank to his knees, looking at his arm the currently hung out of its socket. Touching it slightly, the boy pulled his hand back as his eyes started to water. Opening his mouth to let out a pained cry, it was stifled by the hand that clamped over his mouth.
"If you even make a sound, I will do that to your other arm. Do you understand?" The boy's eyes continued to water though he still managed a small nod. "Now, get up and follow us."
Seeing him be released, Evren held his shoulder as he felt a mild pain. As the boy bowed his head, he got to his feet, slowly grabbing onto the arm that was moving freely at his side. When the trio began to walk, the officer began to notice a few drops along the tile. After several minutes, they all came to stop in front of a door.
As the thing opened, the boy stepped back, only to be pushed inside.
Tripping on his own feet, the blonde fell over, landing on his dislocated shoulder. A mild whimper was the only sound that came before the sound of footsteps echoed into the empty room. Picking himself up slowly, the child kept his head down as the man that dislocated his shoulder walked over to a small table sitting in the corner. Peering out through his bangs, the boy watched as the man came back with a needle in his possession.
"Don't you make a sound or move, understood?"
Watching the child, Evren frowned when the other injected a clear liquid into the base of the boy's neck. Setting the needle aside as the boy began to totter; the man moved over to dislocated limb and pushed it back into place, catching the subtle signs of the boy clenching his jaw to stave off any sounds. Getting to his feet soon after, he walked back over to the one he had come with before both walked out leaving the child alone in the locked room.
Looking around white room, Evren found no evidence of anything comforting.
There were no windows.
There was no bed, no blankets, no pillow.
There were no toys, no books.
There was no sense of time in that place.
The place was so empty that one could hear a pin drop.
A small patter against the tile had the white-haired man looking at the blonde. Making his way over, Evren noted the teardrops falling onto fisted hands. Seeing how some managed to fall onto tile or soak into the white pants the boy had been wearing, the officer reached out to rub the boy's head before watching him fall forward without warning. Taking a knee, he heard the stifled cries and muffled whimpers prior to seeing the boy's hand reach out to grasp the needle that had been left behind.
Spotting the deadened turquoise eye staring the object, Evren placed his hand over the boy's, simply to have it fall through to the floor. "Don't…"
Water welled before rolling down the boy's face. "C-can't…do this…"
"Don't," the officer repeated.
Gradually pulling himself into an upright position, the blonde stared at the syringe in his hand before aiming the point of it at his jugular. Pressing the point to the side of his neck, the boy tried to still his trembling hand before throwing the object aside when he lost his nerve. Sliding a hand through his unkempt hair, the boy stared out ahead in frustration before hitting his fist against tile. Watching more tears stream down the pallid face, Evren glanced at the needle that was cast aside before seeing the boy looking his way.
Waving a hand in his direction, the man tensed when the boy just stared at him.
The hazy eyes seemed to look through him really.
The expression of hopelessness slowly hardened after a few minutes before the child seized the syringe.
Studying the thing carefully, the younger male's attention flitted towards the door. "Be a good boy they say…" he muttered as he glanced at the sharp object. "I'll show them…" Hearing footsteps approaching, he tightened his grasp on the medical tool before carefully tucking the thing away. "I'll show them all…"
Moving to the furthest wall, he sat down, letting his head hang down. As the door opened, he remained motionless. Hearing footsteps come closer, he picked his head up by an inch or so to see someone's legs before him.
"Number 9026A," they said, "I've heard a few stories about you." The boy looked down at his lap. "You can be quite the handful from what I've heard and it's come to my attention that you don't respond when you're called by your assigned number. Why is that?" he asked as he pulled out a capped syringe. When he received no answer, his attention went towards the blonde sitting on the floor as he tapped the side of the tool. "If you won't respond to that, why don't I indulge you a bit? Give me your arm." The child did as told. "If you have one, what is your name ?"
"Name?"
"Yes," they replied as they watched the needle's plunger inject a pale yellow liquid, "but by your response, I guess that you don't have one."
"My name…" He tilted his head to the side. "My name…" he murmured as he slipped a hand behind himself to retrieve the syringe.
His hand then shot forward to stab the man in the eye. Pulling the other syringe out of his own arm as the man reeled back, letting out an agonizing scream, the blonde repeated his previous action before snatching up the man's keycard. Hurrying over to the door, he swiped it.
Getting to his feet as the boy opened the door, the officer eyed the small group of workers that were standing in front of the entrance. Watching the boy take a step back, Evren took one forward as the group eyed the boy that still had a bloodied syringe in his grasp.
"He's still in the containment room but he's armed," one said, catching Evren's attention.
"Subdue him," came the order over a hand radio.
"Number 9026A, put it down."
"Be a good boy…"
"That's not my name…"
"I said to put it down, 90-"
Tightening his hold on the makeshift weapon, the blonde scowled. "That's not my name!"
"You're called Number 90-"
Feeling his nails starting to bit the palm of his hand, the boy's mismatched eyes hardened. "My name is Evren!" he shouted.
"Take him down."
Lurching forward as the group pulled out a gun, Evren ran towards the door to grab the child. "Wait!"
-†-
"Wait!"
Shooting upright, Evren grabbed at his chest before looking around frantically. Breathing heavily, he looked up at the ceiling when the lights didn't come on before catching sight of a sparks dancing about the room. Feeling something run down the corner of his mouth, he pressed a finger to it before flinching as he caught movement in his peripheral. Having someone touch his shoulder before being pushed back down into a more prone position, he held his hands out in front of him, shoving at what he guess to be the person's chest. Catching a glimpse of what he just saw not too long ago, the white-haired man squeezed his eyes shut before catching the sound of electricity in the air followed by a pained shout. Hearing footsteps followed by the door opening, Evren got out of bed before dropping to one knee. Clutching at his chest then his head, he squeezed his eyes shut again.
"Evren!"
Looking over his shoulder slowly, the man held up a hand to shield his eyes from the numerous lights being shone on him. Backing away as it seemed to mirror what had seen a short time ago, the officer held out his hands, flinching as he heard the lighting starting to crack.
"Stay away from me!" he ordered.
"Subdue him."
"Wait!" Picking himself up from the floor, Tyson clutched at his chest before making his way towards the white-haired subordinate. "Evren, listen to me, ok? I need you to calm down. They're going to shoot you if you can't calm down," he said. "Just calm down and breathe. You're causing a power surge for half the city!"
Turning to towards the window, Evren watched as lights flickered on and off before jumping when he felt something hit the side of his neck. Pulling out a small dart, he studied the object before looking in the possible direction it could have come from. Touching the side of his head as everything became fuzzy, the man tottered before falling over. Being caught, he slowly turned his head to make out the blurry sight of red eyes staring down at him.
"Ty…son, I…"
Listening to the hum of electricity dwindle before fading, Tyson laid the officer down on the floor. Watching as his deadened eyes closed finally, the raven clutched at his chest before looking at the rest of the squad that was still holding onto their weapons.
"Sir-"
"Half of you work on getting the city back in order while the rest of you get the power going."
The members all nodded before taking off, leaving one behind. "Sir?"
"What is it now?"
"Are you going to be alright?"
Lowering his hand, Ty managed a nod. "I'll be fine. Don't worry about me." After being left alone with the white-haired man, Tyson managed to get him back in bed before taking a seat along the side. Running a hand through the man's hair, he jerked it back when a small bolt of electricity jumped at his hand before wiping away the thin trail of what appeared to be blood from the corner of the man's mouth. Evren…what's the matter with you?
