The day went on like the days before it. I went home, crashed on my bed, and wrote letters for someone I could never have.
Those letters were like a diary to me, an escape from reality.
But this day had a twist. The letters were gone. All thirty of it.
Of course they did. I didn't hide them well, and a family like mine would have already been reading it.
"Where is it?!" I screamed. My mother ran into my room confused.
"What are you screaming about?" she asked.
"My letters. They're gone!"
"Do you mean these letters?"
She brought out a ton of paper, folded and creased with perfection. It was the letters. I grabbed it out of her hand and frowned at her.
"Get out. Please."
She walked out and closed the door. I threw the stack on my bed.
And the day went on like the other days.

Dearest Johnny,
Life goes on like before, but with a twist. I'm sad and depressed, and they are happy and smiling. "They" are Ree and Johnny. Oh Johnny, why did you leave me? What did you see in Ree? What did Alexis see in me? I have questions that only God can answer. And one of them, only you can. Tell me Johnny, why?
Mother burst into my room again. I erased everything I wrote (I was using a pencil all this time) and looked at mother.
Obsolete Oddity, A Nightmare about
My letter wasn't completely erased, for mother had grabbed it out of my hands.
"Carol"
"Yes mother?"
"Ms. Fraudner called me today. She said she had been watching you, and every time in her class, you wrote letters, distracting you from every word she says. And your failing grade Carol dear!"733Please respect copyright.PENANA5uA2VwLORC
"I'm sorry."
"Remember this, Caroline. One more call from any teacher because of this behavior, I will move you to another school! Frolick School for the Unfortunate!"
"What?! Are you serious?"
"Do I look like I'm kidding?"
She shoved a letter in my hands, the letter Ms. Fraudner (my English teacher) threw in the bin. I forgot about it, now my mother has it. Bad karma, I say.
