It most definitely was not going my way today. Paisleigh left me a text during advisory telling me she was in the hospital for a suicide attempt, Salem flipped out on me because I accidentally misgendered them when I had called to tell them about Paisleigh, and Teagan threw up all over my clothes, which is why I'm wearing some stinky ass shirt the school gave me, since both of my parents were working, and didn't see it necessary to bring me new ones. Oh, and I stink so bad, Kinsley, my crush, finally noticed me. That really hurt.
"Cole, what are you wearing?" Zach asked, cringing in disgust as he noticed my shirt,
"Someone threw up on me, so I'm wearing whatever the school handed to me.
"Ugh, sorry bro." Zach gave me an apologetic smile, "Bye the way, I'm going over to Avery's to study tonight, so you've got the house to yourself for a while."
"Oh... Great."
"Zach, let's go." A blonde girl grabbed him by the arm, and pulled him along with a scoff,
"Bye Cole!"
"Bye..." I sighed, before diving into the crowded hallway, keeping my head down to avoid being noticed by anyone, which was something pretty easy for me to do...
Instead of coming out into a classroom, I came out of the back door. I didn't want to be here anymore. I don't even care that I'll get my phone taken away for skipping. It's unbearable, not to mention, it's kinda useless now if I can't talk to Paisleigh or Salem.
"Hey." Someone stated, making me jump slightly,
"Uh, h-hi." I stumbled out,
"What are you doing out here?"
"Um, nothing."
"Really? It kinda looks like you're skipping."
"Of course not..." I shook my head,
"Don't freak, I'm chill. My name's Theo."
"O-Okay."
"You are?"
"Cole."
"So, if you aren't here to skip, what are you here for?" He questioned,
"To catch a break."
"Are you anxious then?"
"Yeah... I don't really fit here."
"I feel you there."
"You do?"
"Yep. I'm totally displaced here, but I think that's okay. My older siblings felt that way too, which is why they ran off to start new lives. Only one of them, the oldest, Tyler, never got his chance to shine."
"Why's that?"
"Some dickhead got him into... basically a huge crime circle, and his best friend went on and murdered him."
"That... sucks..."
"Yeah, he was... pretty great. He was practically our caretaker instead of our parents, since well... there were nine of us, and they decided they couldn't handle it."
"Nine?!"
"Yep, nine." Theo smiled,
"So how many of your siblings ran away then?"
"Four. I'll probably be the fifth, since it's seeming to just run down the line."
"Why would you want to leave?"
"This place, well... It drags me down. There's too many shitty people, and my family here. I feel like... I could be so much more, if I was just set free to be myself."
"...What do you want to be?"
"You're gonna laugh."
"I won't. I'm wearing this stinky ass shirt, I have nothing to laugh about."
"...You promise you won't laugh?" He asked, as I slid down next to him,
"I promise." I stuck out my pinky finger for him, and he shook it with his.
"I want to be a dancer."
"Dude, that's awesome. I can't dance for shit."
"You really think so?" His eyes lit up as he scanned my face with an aloof smile,
"Yeah. I do." I nodded,
"Thanks Cole... No one's ever actually said that to me..." We were quiet for a while, "What do you want to be?"
"I don't know yet..."
"Well, that's okay."
"I mean, I kind of... I want to be famous, but that's so unrealistic. I don't fit here whatsoever, how will I fit in the real world?"
"It's not unrealistic. As long as you strive for it, you can do it. You could make a name for yourself, Cole."
"I really hope so... Because I hate this lonely feeling..."
"Me too... But hey, maybe we don't have to be alone anymore. You and I."
"You and I... I like it."
"Cool." He pulled himself up,
