Dear Jenny, my Greatest Friend,
Ever since that day I've been on an adventure. Thrilling heights, breathtaking views, and narrow escapes. How long has it been? Perhaps it had been an eternity, and I have managed to live this long! Or, I may have simply forgotten the time.
But I'm straying away from the topic of this letter. Why am I writing this? Can a toy even write in the first place? Well, yes. But that's besides the point. I've known you ever since you were little- I'm sure you remember me at least a wee bit.
Remember the time we went fishing and you dropped me in the lake? ...I'd rather put that memory away, actually. How about when we went to the annual festival and rode on the Ferris Wheel? Remember how it's colours shone so brightly even in the heat of the day? My favourite part was when we reached the very top, and were able to look at the amazing view! The mountains around us, our faces feeling the chill of the air. I knew you were scared, the way you clung onto my arm with a death grip a toddler shouldn't have.
Are you sure you're not good at sports?
We stuck together for as long as I can remember, until that unfortunate day. Jenny, by no means did I 'run away' or was 'lost'. It was an accident, and I don't want to pin any blame on you whatsoever.
But you did drop me on my head.
It hurt, yes, but when I realized that you hadn't even known what happened to me, or where I was, my heart ached. Maybe it was time for us to part ways, and this was the grim fate I had to accept.
At least, that's what I told myself.
What a sorry fool I was.
The night went on slowly that day, and it was awfully cold. I thought I may catch a cold! I had no idea what time of the night it was, but suddenly I heard these loud thuds approaching closer to me by the second. I wanted to run, surely, but it was as if my bones had been turned into lead and my bottom was glued to the ground! However frightened I was I had to face whatever beast awaited me...
A girl. Older, mind, but her red hair was tied back in a braid and her eyes shone a curious chocolate. I saw her kneel down and gently lift me into the air. My head started to swarm with a mixture of fear and the height!
But as she gazed at me with those agog orbs I felt my fear melt away. She took me to a big house, so tall that I couldn't see the top! We rode in one of those lifting contraptions, an eel-vader? No, that can't be it... Oh, blast.
We didn't stay there for long, which was surprising. The very next day she took me to one of those big places where you travel on flying machines, and we flew for hours! I was scared at first, of course, but I think you remember my fear of those things. How do I even know I'm safe in the air? Bears aren't meant to fly, anyway. Ooh... I think I should move on from that unsettling thought.
When the happy hour came and we got off the machine, everything was so different! We visited that place that you showed me in a book. What did you call it? An eye-full tower? Something like that, I would think.
But you wouldn't believe how bright and glorious it was! If you haven't already, I would say go and see this behemoth of a building! And my, we even climbed all the way to the top. You could see the entire city from there, all of it! My soul swells in excitement even as I recall the image!
This new girl that I met traveled so much, and took me with her everywhere. I think we were best buddies by then, but she never did give me a name. That was the only unfortunate outcome of our friendship, really. We visited so many places it was hard to keep up.
But I thought of you just the other day, and what our life was like. I wonder if you've grown into a beautiful woman by now, Jenny. I'm sure you're the most crimson rose out of them all.
Have you forgotten me, Jenny? I surely don't wish to resort to such disheartening thoughts, but by now I may only be a shadow of a memory in your eyes.
I miss you. Don't ever forget our time together, please. I may not be the best or cleanest toy in the world, but perhaps I set aside a special place in your little heart.
I should be going now, anyway, I can hear the girl packing up her things again. I heard her talking on a phone the other day, and our next mission is in the blistering heat of Africa.
Do wish me the best of luck, as I do to you.
I sure do hope your life is going well.
I love you.
Awaiting your reply,
Mr. Snugby
