Stephanie said as she remembered. She rolled out of bed, and stood in front of her closet. "Okay," she began saying to herself, "It's Monday. That's means it's dress-casual-and-comfoftable-but-still-welcoming day. Hell these dressing days can sometimes be confusing and limiting." She pulled together a somewhat decent outfit, put het hair up in a loose bun, did some light makeup, grabbed her purse, and rushed out the door.
Once she was inside her work building, she reached a door that said, "Counselling and Therapy Wing". She pulled out her ID card and pressed up against the card check. A light turned green, and the door clicked. She opened it, and walked to her office. She was a child's psychologist-- one of the best in her hospital district-- in fact. She finally reached her office, and sat down at her desk, getting ready for her 11 o'clock appointment. A 12 year old boy named Trevor. Some 8th graders decided to start picking on him, and the results of his actions afterwards weren't so good. He had told the group of kids that were being mean, that he knew someone who he could pay to kill them, and dispose of their bodies as if they never existed. He also said, that he will make sure that he'll be witnessing their deaths, so that one by one he can start feeling better about his own self esteem. Of course, one of the 8th graders went to the police. Instead of admitting Trevor to a children's mental institution, or a boot camp of some kind, one of the police-- and also my brother-- brought Trevor to me. He was put into therapy for 2 years after his threat. This will be his first appointment. Stephanie sighed she organized some papers on her desk. Just then there was a slight buzz and a flashing red light coming from a silver panel on her office wall. It was indicating that her 11 o'clock was here. And right on time. Stephanie put on her best smile, and walked out into the waiting area. There, she saw a brunette boy, with flashing green eyes. Exactly the last person who you'd think to send a threat. He angrily looked up at Stephanie. Now, she's seen plenty of kids who didn't want to be there, but she felt like she needed to say something before she took him to get office. With a warm smile, she sat down in a chair across from him and she said, "Hi Trevor. I'm so glad to finally meet you, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. I'm Dr. Larkwood... but you can just call me Stephanie." The anger on his face disappeared for a split second, before slowly returning. Stephanie looked up at Trevor's parents, and said, "Don't worry Mr and Mrs Lamington. All the parents are nervous when they first bring their kids here. But Trevor will be fine. I feel like me and him will be quick friends." Trevor seemed to hesitate when he heard the word 'friends'. The parents nodded, both taking deep breaths. After shaking hands, Stephanie led Trevor into the door, through a hallway, and finally in her office. He plopped himself down in a chair across from Stephanie and looked down at his hands. "Trevor," Stephanie said, "This is a place of comfort and safety. I will not judge you, make fun of you, exclude you, bully you or harm you in any way. I'm here to listen and help... And hopefully become friends with you." He flinched, looked up with slight tears in his eyes, and said, "You don't want to be my friend. You're just doing your job. You're just doing whatever so you get paid." With a shake of her head, she looked at him, and responded, "Trevor this may be my job, but I've worked towards this job ever since I was your age. My job involves care, patience, minors under 18, and help. I chose to help kids, because I want to do everything in my power to give kids a friend when they feel like there's nothing left. So yes, this is my job, and I get paid for it. But I chose this job... so I could help kids. Kids like you, who need my help, even if they don't want it." "I... I'm sorry," Trevor said as a tear began forming in his right eye. Stephanie held out het hand across her desk, and Trevor took it, hesitantly. "Don't be sorry. Plenty of kids come in her close-minded. It sometimes takes awhile for kids to trust me, and I understand that. But whether you trust me or not, I'm here for you, and I'm here to listen to whatever you want to tell me." Trevor nodded, and a slight smile showed on his face. Just then, that same silver panel on the wall from earlier, began flashing a red light. The 12 o'clock was here. "It's been an hour already? Wow.. how time flies. I'll see you next Monday, Trevor?" He nodded. "I'll walk you out to your parents. I hope to hear more next session." Stephanie quickly said as she opened the office door for him.429Please respect copyright.PENANAhS3W5eAg5U
