It's been a heck of a long while since the last one of these, and really I debated doing a Frost Storm Direct (Youtube Vid) but not enough commentary to be had. Cuz jumping the gun, I'm only going to be addressing Ravenlight & Soul Fall. All other projects are secondary; though to touch on it, Streams are MIA because I rarely have the house to myself (might try out a night schedule) and that SMP is just not happening yet.
Obviously there isn't much to explain either as far as why, cuz I kinda covered it in my Hiatus posting. As a recap- two of my mentors, one blood and the other still family, passed in July (also had to put a pet down). August my brother left for college. I took time off September, came back October for a hell of a struggle.

Soul Fall
Overview
Starting with Soul Fall, yeah I can't really comment on its future because idk. The server has a handful of people in it; but no one is really active atm. As such I haven't had material to promote with, and in turn there hasn't been any growth. Despite that, a few of us ARE looking into options.
For example: I've been working on some Preludes that will fall under the banner of Soul Fall: Veil of the Lost (the og title). Basically just my own characters with some cameos of other people + their characters, all under my control. I have considered continuing my characters and stories solo, uploading a novelized format, should the server not grow.
Beyond me doing some preludes and the novelization, we are looking into other options- like perhaps Discord isn't where we're meant to be? Perhaps we could do more with our socials. Perhaps there are a few folks from the past we can hit up.
Ultimately- I want to carry the legacy that my old crews started over various editions. The original 10 formed 2006-07 which began stuff in '08, the next big generation in '11 & '12, and then our continued growth over the years. These characters, these stories- not even just my own but the overall story & lore of communities come and gone... I want to preserve that, to continue that legacy.
So yeah, that's my plan, to do some Prelude Chapters so that I have content to promote... and hopefully get our server going good. And even if the server gets going, I'll likely get a novelization going.

Content & Where I'm Hosting
So first of all, given the nature of the story & lore (given that we borrow from other IPs as that was DA-WAE on Home) I am not going to post chapters to Tapas or Inkitt. This is due to the way content works over there, what with accounts and being able to earn and- yada yada. So likely this Soul Fall Prelude (and the future series) will be hosted Exclusively on Penana.
Maybe I'll share it on Wattpad, give it a try on the Fanfiction hub over there?
Probably not going to include other peoples characters, unless I have permission. I will likely allude to or cameo them though.
The Novelization will likely be titled "Veil of the Lost" given that the server itself isn't using that name. Now while we are allowing AI Images in the server, and even though I am basically including fanfiction in the actual novelization I'm doing- I am NOT doing AI images in Soul Fall VotL. In fact, probably not going to be any art or chapter art for this project.
Still debating on what kind of content to use for the World Anvil (wikia thing). But that can be figured out in time as can many things.

Closing
In closing, I have some new content in the works FINALLY to help promote Soul Fall. I think this Prelude idea will do some wonders, as will the upcoming novelization. Not sure when I'll upload chapters, I have one Prelude chapter done already. Maybe I'll fire it off this week for the heck of it?
And until we decide otherwise, the server is open yet to the public. I have hopes of building the community and getting it going on story telling; but again we'll see where that goes.

Ravenlight
Overview
Ravenlight is an odd one, not gonna lie.
For a quick recap: June was the kick off day finally after a year of prep, July & Aug happened, I took a small break, October came & I decided to turn the Saga 1 'prologue' into a 'prelude'.
Part of this is due to just, the huge breaks between batches of chapters and the in-turn drop in quality, kinda why I rushed 2 chapters a release day during October. The primary reason is a change in approach.
For those unaware, I had an art team built for Ravenlight. 4 artists... which has now fallen to 1 part-timer. I lost contact with one artist, one hit irl problems and had to quit, another has gotten too busy, and the other is also busy but can do part time. Obviously that impacted my chapters, where I had a surplus built for October- I suddenly didn't have the art to insert.
Given that the vision got f-ed up, my options were A: hiatus and try again, hopefully get it right in a couple months... B: cut my losses and finish the story. I chose Option B of course.
I am hopeful to resume Ravenlight Saga 1 sometime early 2025 but at this point, it is TBD. I need to refill my art team, and that's if I opt to continue doing Chapter Art. I need to get a surplus of chapters readied. And there are a few other things to do.
It's hard to say what is the best path forward, other than- I'm working on it and that content WILL resume.

Content Changes
OBVIOUSLY I had intentions of making art one of the primary drawing points to showcase Ravenlight at its best. This included character art, concept art, covers & posters, and of course Chapter Art. Given that I've ESSENTIALLY burned through 3 and a half artists via circumstances beyond my control... my approach might change.
One thing is for certain though- I want to give Ravenlight a unique identity if this goes on yet.
What do I mean? Well, I want it to have its own tasteful art style that's at least semi-unique to it. If anything I was thinking some kick ass cooltastic cartoon art or some cartoony video-game art, like say Paper Mario/Hollow Knight/Bug Fables. Something... compelling. Or maybe even some kind of comic style that's not to common.
I was going for an anime-esc aesthetic and not that I have anything against it; but I want to do it a little different.
And in going with this potential art style change, I was thinking a tone change. Rather than taking a page out of the book of "just put the word fuck in every sentence and be vulgar about things" that, maybe I should focus on a bit of lighthearted adventure with some serious undertone and darker elements. Hold off on the acid bath and instead hold my punches.
Like instead of fuck, bitch, cunt, bastard, prick... dastard for an example.
Dastard is fun. I'm sure I could come up with some other words to match the vibes. I think that's the vibe I want to gun for, which is another reason why I ended the 'prologue arc' as a prelude to the actual saga. It's Semi-Canon, and gives me a chance to do something based on my shifted views.

Ravenlight will resume in time, I just need to get a few things figured out. Hire some more artists, figure out an art style to define the series, figure out if there'll still be chapter art or what I'll end up doing. The actual saga WILL kick off in due time as I figure these things out.

RAVEN-FALL
(News for Both)
Alright so, I do have news for both.
I am planning to try a new chapter structure going forward, which will be tested first with Soul Fall VotL. In the past, I'd always test novel ideas out on PS Home with the community, so fitting that I continue that trend with SF. Coming up with Chapter Names for each chapter is a pain in the arse... so I like the idea of there being "main chapters" with "episodes" that go over the events for each chapter. The Chapters would have the title, and the episodes (unless special) would be unnamed.
In going with this- I've limited the sizes of chapters to bitesize for sites like Tapas and Inkitt but... with Soul Fall VotL I am going to attempt a mix of longer chapters and some 'normal size' chapters. Just to see where things go.
On the back of all of this, updates will be coming to both World Anvil "Wikias" and more stuff for the Socials. Likely I will be posting early access to either my own Discord (Origami Kingdom) or the Soul Fall server (for SF stuff) for free in a fair bit of advance.
And one last bit, I'm thinking of making unofficial "official" playlists for each series, perhaps with notes on how each track plays in each series. While I still intend to make OSTs for Ravenlight, I think having some pre-chosen tracks (be them copyright free or from other IPs) as "suggested by the author" as unofficially canon tidbits for scenes would be fun. Gonna work on those details yet, maybe it's a dumb idea, maybe it'll be fun- gotta see.

Not much more to tell.
I've already said I'm cooking. To summarize- a Soul Fall novelization while working on the actual community server, prep work for a new art team for Ravenlight & a new vibe/theme direction, working on the socials and the Discords, working on all those things under news for both.
I wish I could share more and I'm probably just rambling at this point but... ya know, I'm working on a lot of things to make 2025 THE YEAR (hopefully cuz 23 & 24 haven't been).
