Not a day past five

On the very last day

That he felt alive

Back before he knew the rush

Before the nights of terror

Where the truth all fades away

Was something he still knew

Stead of being a fragile boy

Beaten black and blue

And theres a skeleton in the closet

Who makes an awful clack

Trying to call attention to

The boy who slipped through the crack

Now too many years have passed

To take away his pain

Even though the battle is done

And the dragon slayed

The warrior has injuries

That reach into his soul

And a childhood of hurt

That has nowhere to go.

And built up all the walls

And curled up inside his fortress

Scared that they would fall

And peeks out from the shadows

Sometimes throughout the year

Everybody sees his armor

But they can't see his fear
