Here's my incomplete entry for those that are curious: (a part of a fantasy story that I'm building up at the moment - draft writing)586Please respect copyright.PENANAmolW4cayTY
Midst of the silent darkness a smartphone began to vibrate and its screen lit up. Slowly buzzing towards the edge of the night table. The screen was very red with flying hearts.586Please respect copyright.PENANA86V1RFegdO
Jeffray groaned and placed a sleepy hand upon the night table but failed to reach his smartphone. The phone vibrated on. "Oh God, I should have turned it off." He moaned to himself and reached anew for his phone. The phone slipped over the edge.
"Jesus!" He snapped annoyed and turned to the night table. He sighed as he realized the phone fell. No matter what or who it is, he's too tired to do anything. "I hope it's not Lily with an urgent case like the other time." He grabbed his phone and tiredly peered at the glowing screen. "Huh?" He blinked and soon rubbed his eyes to be sure that this is no dream what he just read. "Lady Louise has liked your picture and left a private message. What the-? Wait! Is it from Love-tastic? What? It is! Hold it, this must be a dream, no woman likes me." Jeffray swiped his way to the dating app Love-tastic and checked at his profile. A young blonde with long curly hair holding a chihuahua close beside her smiling face was visible on the note beside the name Lady Louise. She gave a like to Jeffray's profile picture of him making a selfie behind a scenery of mountains with sunglasses. Actually, the background was taken from an ad and photoshopped by a cousin of his. His cousin suggested of the app in the first place to help finding the right 'girl'. Jeffray knows he has not much luck but doesn't give up. He pressed the private message from Lady Louise. Hey Jeffray,
You look like a swell guy and was wondering meeting you in person. How about meeting at the cafe Paris at 5:30 pm tomorrow?
"What?" Jeffray exclaimed surprised with a broad smile and let himself fall back to bed. Immediately he texted back a private message agreeing to her suggested date. Sounds great, can't wait! He texted with a smiley emoji. As Jeffray pressed the send button a loud kissing sound came from the smartphone.
He sighed content and closed his eyes with a grin. "This is finally for real."
On the next day as his clock went off he pressed the snooze button and got out of bed with ease. Prepared his usual morning ritual by taking a shower, style his hair and drink a mug of hot cacao while listening to the radio. He knew today is a special day and can't wait until the time is right. Jeffray arrived at the salon earlier than usual. He opened the windows to let in fresh air and started to count and restack all the shampoos, soaps, foams and further equipment. Soon he was already done and started turning on the coffee machine as Basil walked in.
"Jo Jeffray my man. Why you so early here? Got an appointment sometime today?" Greeted Basil merry and gave their brotherly hand shake.
"Yeah, got a date at 5:30 pm. Could you cover for me this evening?"
"Sure bro, gladly I return the favour." Basil laughed with joy and open arms. "Who's the lucky girl, Jeff? Do I know her by chance?"
Jeffray laughed. "Nope, someone you don't know."
As he was about to place a mug at the coffee machine he almost squished a green faery standing there with a broad smirk. "Someone is so in love today."
Jeffray gasped and jumped back of fright but then started laughing. "That's right." He threw a brief glance to Basil, he has gone to the bathroom and then back to the little faery with a serious expression. "What are you doing here, Gibbles?" Jeffray hissed at the faery.
"Kaira sends his regards but why I'm really here is another reason. Bolzar the brute is out, again. Some of my friends got a bit too close to him and ... now he's on a rampage."
"Meaning you got on his nerves and now he's out causing a mess?"
Gibbles nodded.
Jeffray sighed while rubbing with one hand his closed eyes. "Out of all other days, it had to happen today."
Gibbles tilted his head and started to grin. "I think you're sticking around too long with Lily, this isn't you, Jeffray. Did you sleep well?"
"Jo Jeffray, is there a customer here?" Basil walked in.
Quick-witted Jeffray stood in front of the coffee machine with a nervous grin. "I-I was just thinking out loud to the coffee machine. You know, the filter." Jeffray shook his head with annoyance.
"Okay, let me know when you need help." Basil turned away. Jeffray sighed. "Oh, one question, is she pretty?" Basil rapidly turned back to Jeffray.
Jeffray nodded.
"Let me know how it turned out, Jeff." He made a clicking sound and showed thumbs up with a wink.
As Basil was out of sight, Jeffray faced Gibbles, he was gone.
Suddenly the jingling sound rung from the cash register. Gibbles was climbing over the buttons and the drawer below opened with the cash. Gibbles froze and spotted the glistening coins. "Oh, shiny."
"No, no, no!" Called Jeffray and sprinted towards the cash register.
Quick-witted Gibbles took a coin and jumped off the desk, Jeffray almost knocked it over while trying to catch Gibbles.
“See ya!” Waved Gibbles with his coin and a broad smirk.
“Hold it, thief!” Called Jeffray angered and swung his legs over the table.
“Oh!” Exclaimed Gibbles surprised and ran off.
“Wait! Jeff!” Shouted Basil as he saw Jeff sprinting out the salon.
Jeffray had his dark brown eyes fixed at Gibbles, determined to catch him and show where the troll is aside returning the coin.
Gibbles ran like lightening past many people’s pacing feet, few barking dogs then a side sprint onto a bin, letterbox, a café table and stole a sugar cube before sprinting on.
Jeffray couldn’t get close to Gibbles as he planned and hoped for while slipping past multiple people, avoiding growling and barking dogs, avoid running into the letterbox and more people sitting at café tables where Gibbles shortly landed. The two ladies at the table screamed in fear as they noticed Gibbles. "Aw, you two are no fun." He noted and jumped off. "Damn!" Cursed Jeffray as Gibbles slipped within his grasp. He knocked over the café table but rapidly scrambled to his feet after Gibbles with a short "Sorry." The two young ladies stared wide-eyed after Jeffray, wondering what they just saw and noticing the spilled coffee and sugar around them.586Please respect copyright.PENANAr7i1k1frpx
Jeffray was fixed after Gibbles who kept sprinting over multiple cars and yellow cabs in the middle of the street. Suddenly a police car siren wailed close by. "Jeffray, I heard there's trouble. What's going on?" Called Lily out from the open window of the car. Jeffray panted and pointed to Gibbles. Lily rolled her eyes as she spotted him. Quickly she drove her car to a side parking. "Call me crazy but I see no better option." She spoke to herself as she climbed out the window and began running over car roofs.
"What? Lily!" Panted Jeffray surprised as she caught up with him.
"Oh!" Exclaimed Gibbles as he threw a brief glance over his shoulder and noticed Lily. He ran off at a quicker pace.
A chorus of cars honking and people shouting didn't let Lily distract her as she cautiously paced of the car roofs.
Gibbles knew the sea of car roofs will have soon an end but not that soon. "Bugger." He cursed and jumped off the car and raced on to the other side of the street. Dodging many moving cars at the other half of the road before landing safe and sound on the sidewalk. He gave triumphant laugh as he turned to see that he has shaken loose the other two. Suddenly he feels a pair of eyes watching him, Gibbles slowly turns to see who is watching. A young toddler was staring at him and started to laugh while waving about lollipop at hand.
Gibbles licked his lips as he noticed the lollipop and in his quick pace grabbed it. After a long while the toddler realized what happened and started to cry. Gibbles sniggered and stuck out his tongue before walking away and nosh on the lollipop with a merry skip like a young child. After a while skipping on he noticed at a reflection of a large shop window Lily and Jeffray sprinting after him. He froze and quick-witted looked. Rapidly without thinking he raced into a small deserted alley and found himself at a dead end. He swallowed loudly as he faced them.
"Your luck's run out." Noted Jeffray.
Lily tried to grab Gibbles put he slipped past her grip like wet soap. Jeffray got firm hold of Gibbles' feet. "Ok, ok, I give up." He gave short laugh as he was facing them up-side-down. "It was fun for a change."
"Tell me where is Bolzar?" Asked Jeffray sternly.
"He he, like you really want to know." Gibbles smirked.
"Hand him over to me, if I know how to make demons talk then I surely know how to make faeries talk." Noted Lily coolly while strapping on her leather gloves.
"Okay, okay! I'll talk!" Gibbles sighed. Lily and Jeffray exchanged short glances with a grin. "Last time I saw Bolzar was heading to the docks. That's all I know."
"Oh no, the radio noted of a demonstration there. We have to go, now!" Lily raced off.
"Hey Jeffray, I told you everything now let me down, will ya?" Wondered Gibbles.
"Not a chance. You brought in this trouble and will help us clean it up. You know why." Jeffray sprinted after Lily with Gibbles in his hand.
As the three were on road heading the docks the motorway got soon blocked by traffic. “Just the thing that missing today aside a troll running lose.” Jeffray sighed.
“Are you kidding? In my world it could be a lot worse and usually you’re not that fussy, Jeffray.”
“Out of all days I’ve got today a date and don’t want to miss the chance. She could be it.”
“Well why didn’t you say so in the beginning?” Gibbles laughed. “Hang on tight to your car, this could get bumby.” He began to breathe in deep.586Please respect copyright.PENANAAdy5vQb4XZ
“What is he doing?” Wondered Lily uneasy.
Jeffray laughed. “He’s going to teleport us past this traffic! Thanks Gibbles.”
The moment Gibbles began to hold onto his breath bright yellow light flashed around Lily and Jeffray and saw out their window how their surroundings moved blurred behind until Gibbles let go of his breath. The car landed abruptly at a parking lot not far from the docks. Gibbles panted. “This is as close I can get.”
“My job would be so much easier if I could travel like this.” Lily sighed. “Thanks Gibbles.” She gave him a boiled candy.
Immediately they ran over to the docks and searched for the troll. Sun was shining high in the crystal blue sky, the seagulls sailed their wings against the wind and laughed. Suddenly at one end they all heard people crying in panic and fear. First few people came running past Lily and Jeffray and soon heard the familiar roar of a troll on a rampage. Gibbles swallowed loudly. Jeffray gave a brief glance to Gibbles and ran towards the troll ...586Please respect copyright.PENANAkxiH0ViMUn
