WORD COUNT: 600
When the door slammed, I had to run. The world was quiet for there was no one to make noise. The only sound was my feet pounding against the ballroom floor. I balled up the skirt of my long puffy white dress and regret not seeing the signs.660Please respect copyright.PENANAFiBd0rTYtQ
I looked behind me but there was no one there, that worried me more than ever. They were never there until they were. I dashed faster kicking off my beautiful heels. I couldn't afford to stop.
A branch swayed and I flinched, looking around with undue terror. I continued as breathing became a second priority and life becoming my third. I had to make it where the woods could not grow. They would not make it if I didn't.
The crow called eleven times and my feet hit the floor in time with my heart. Neither was resting. The twigs and leaves stabbed into my foot and blood-soaked them. It wasn't mine.
I panicked and tripped staining my dress bright red. How befitting of the equation. The moon laughed at my whimpers. The stars giggled with unearthly delight at my pain.
I made it! The clearing had a table placed in the middle. I sat down among the happy monsters and smiled too, hoping no one caught on. However, one watched me with a grin, his head tilted to the side curiously.
He got up and gently brought his silver spoon to his glass cup. The beings sat down in their seats, two seated next to me, as he announced that dinner is here. I smiled and smiled until my cheek hurt with joy. Dinner was served!
I watched as they set down plates, huge plates the size of small children, and salivate over the meat. I, meanwhile, tried to look around for my family but they were nowhere to be found. The man still looked at me with a strange, strange look in his eyes. He pushed some of the meat towards me with a cup of red wine.
He told me to eat and so I did. I was amazed at how sweet the tender meat was and how chewy the darker meat. The cup of wine was a bit too metallic for my taste but I took a few sips as well. The man smiled, even more, showing off his sharp white teeth.
How does it taste my dear, he asked. I told him it tastes wonderful. Have you seen my family, I asked him still eating. He grinned even wider and said, right in front of you my dear! I looked around and still did not see them after looking all over the room but then something caught my eye.
The meat was decorated but that was to be expected but the decorations were quite odd. Two little pink bows on the sweet and tender meat, the chewy meat had a watch, and some other meat which I had not tasted had a necklace of pearls. After staring for a little bit and smiling at the decorations, my joyful expression turned to one of horror. Those things were most familiar.
They had belonged to my family. My little sister, father, and mother were being eaten by not only monsters but me. I took a moment then smiled. How delicious they tasted! I continued with my meal.
The man smiled softly surprised and I winked in his direction. Then we all showed off our pointy, sharp, ivory teeth. Responding to a later question I said,
I'm just sorry that I was late!
