I have something to tell you, the letter had said. He's alive, and I've seen him around, and I know where he is. I've sent you the coordinates of it, though I don't know if you'll make it in time. I'm so sorry for never telling you, Caroline. 505Please respect copyright.PENANA0XlXOTvdlA
-Your friend, Lizabeth.
There was a war between two countries that were always against each other. Portas and Jaone, my country, have been at war for as long as I could remember. But there was something different, almost unique about the most previous war - which took place a year ago. 505Please respect copyright.PENANAHwdPhQQAwA
Hundreds and thousands of people lost their lives in the last battle, including somebody who I thought was dead. But as it had turned out, he was more than alive, and he was on the run. But I didn't understand how he never knew anyone would look for him, considering how much he was adored and loved by everyone in the kingdom of Portas.
His name was Abalips, and he wasn't the prince of Portas or anything, but he was beloved more than the king himself was, or is, I shall say. Abalips is the mix between a warlock, angel, and demon all combined into one, but he's more beautiful than ever imagined. Our kingdom was told that anyone from the other side of the border was dangerous, but I knew nothing but love for Abalips.
The night after I received the letter, I made the choice to see him again. There was only one possible way for me to get there fast enough: and it was on a horse. My older brothers all owned their special types of horses, though our father never granted me one. In the middle of the night, I stole my brother's horse in the middle of the night and rode off into the distance, willing to look like a fool riding into the night.
By the time both the horse and I had begun to feel tired, I decided it was a perfect time for rest. Allowing the horse and I to sleep would be beneficial because we'd both be able to make the long walk. As I closed my eyes to sleep, my mind drifted back to my love, Abalips, and what adventures he must be on right now.
My dreams were filled with past memories. Abalips and I as we would walk across the gardens together, hands held together tightly. He was so aware of everything, so loving and dreamy-eyed that it was harder and harder to realize exactly why he loved me so much. In the dream, I began blushing when Apalips pulled himself close to me and then whispered something in my ear.
"No matter what," he had told me. "I will always love you. No matter what hardships the two of us endure, you are the love of my life, Caroline. You always have been, and you always will be." In the dream, I smiled when he kissed me on the cheek, the scent of roses and toothpaste on his breath.
I woke with a remembering of how much time I had and realized that it may be days before Abalips and I could ever see each other again. I felt a rip of pain in my heart and wanted to find him as soon as possible. It was like a part of me was missing, and it wouldn't be fixed until I got to be with Abalips again.
For weeks, I rode in the grasslands, facing off competitive fighters and argumentative people who wanted to steal my horse. Father had taught me a lot to my knowledge of foolish people while on a ride, and I was able to outsmart them, but hardly in time. There was only one more day, and then Abalips would be on the move again, to a new location.
I forced my brother's horse to go faster and rode off into the sunset, my heart set on making it before the crack of dawn.
Thankfully, I had made it just in time before the camp had begun shutting down their tents. All of them were moving, I realized.
I ran through the crowd to look for Abalips, searching for dark brown hair and olive skin color. All of the people in the camp had either lighter toned skin, or vibrant hair color, so I thought it would be easier to find my love. Figures, it wasn't.
After what felt like more than years of looking, I saw dark brown hair walking past a group of women, holding two small bags. I felt a rush of excitement and ran towards him, using all of my speed as I abandoned my horse in the middle of the fields. The women gave me glares when I pushed past them, knocking down one of their bags.
"I'm sorry!" I called out. I rushed to the boarding grounds, where I knew it was him - Abalips, my love. I ran past the group of men and women helping their young onto the horses as I called out to Abalips. He turned around in confusion as I felt a wave of excitement over me.505Please respect copyright.PENANAsstfsLKV9W
When he noticed it was me, he smiled. I ran into his arms, and it was like the most glorious moment of my life. All of the nights and days spent on the horse, rushing towards time - it was worth it. Abalips held me in his arms, laughing, as I was.
"Caroline," he said. I smiled when he said my name with his Italian accent, and then he kissed me. Our lips met for about four seconds before he pulled away from me, and wrapped me in another hug. "I cannot believe it's you." His smile faded when he seemed to have realized something. "How did you find me?"
I took his hand. "Lizabeth sent me a letter," I told him. "I knew-I knew that I had to see you. I've spent months on the horse, and I'm here now. Abalips, I found you."
Abalips smiled and twisted my brown hair in his hands, and he began smiling again. "Your brother's horse?" I smiled and then nodded. It felt amazing for him to be holding me again, and it was like I was finally reunited with the love of my life.
"That was the only way," I told him.
Abalips smiled beautifully again, then there was the odd sound of galloping, and horns ringing. It was the king.
"Greeting, citizens," the king of Jaone said. "We are in seek for Abalips, second to the ruler of Jaone. If anyone has possibly seen him, he needs to come forth, immediately."
I took Abalips arm as we both hid behind a large tree, watching as the small group of men and women looked around for their new member in the camp. When they noticed he wasn't around, they all bowed in order to say how sorry they were for not being able to show they had what the king had asked for. I rolled my eyes in annoyance, though Abalips did not seem to care.
"We must run," he whispered in my ear. I turned to look at his dark eyes. "Well, I must. Caroline, you need to return home."
He must think I'm crazy, a voice in my head said. "I am going with you," I said. "There is no way I will ever lose you again. Abalips, I love you. We're in this together."
Abalips smiled as he touched my hair again, and I felt myself blush. "Then we have to run," he said. I nodded and thought of how amazing our life would become. Abalips and I would run away from all of our issues and get married. Possibly, we could even start a family together. It didn't matter what the issue was, because I had him, and he had me.
Whenever the commotion started to reach its climax, I let Abalips take my hand as we ran, and never looked back.
