I silently looked out of the window, where my garden lay drenched in fresh dew. The morning light made it sparkle, like something out of a fairy tale. However, as my eyes wandered to the center of the garden, I looked at the red rose, petals closed and colours pale. I sighed as I turned around. I had just moved house, and I knew nobody. It had been a week, but I began to feel like this wasn't a social place.
I watched the clock, every hour, every minute, every second pass by. I wished to talk to my friends, but they were all busy. I wished to go to work and meet everyone, but I didn't start till next week. I wished to meet the neighbours, but they just avoided each other.
Except one. I'd seen her before, her face bright and cheerful. She had tried to get everyone together, I'd seen it but was too busy.
As if like magic, a someone knocked on the door. A small but cheery knock. I went over and opened it. Stood there she was, big smile brightening the emerald eyes, blond hair falling over her face due to a large breeze. In her hands she held a coloured box. 'Welcome. I'm Lucy' her musical voice made me smile. 'Keira' I replied instantly. I knew I had found a new friend.
As we talked, I felt like a part of me returned. All the homesickness and loneliness vanished. I felt like my world was complete again. And as I looked out at the garden again, I saw something. The dying rose from before was perked up, more lush and colourful than anything I had ever seen before. Its petals were spread out, like it was trying to show me something.
I knew I had made the right choice moving here. And I'm eternally glad.
