I do not know why, but sometimes, I have this dream. I do not get much out of it however but I am still trying to decifer the meaning of the reason behind this dream. At first, I thought it was just some regular weird dream I tend to have but I have it frequently now and it becomes sort of my mission to make sure I reach the other side to see if I could learn something different. Although the ending is always the same.
Confusing and weird.
I walked through the beautiful walkway right in the middle of the cemetary in the middle of the day. The sky is blue and not a single cloud is on sight. The sun is up high and although it should be furiously hot, the weather feels fine. The sky becomes dark suddenly as cumulous clouds all gather to block up every inch of the sky above me, lightning streaking across the sky as I waited for the usual visitor.
She emerged from behind the big white tombstone and smiled sweetly as she made her way towards where I was standing. Her pale face had on joyful eyes that sparkle every time I see her. Her bare feet barely touching the ground as she glided with great grace towards me, her white flawless dress flowing around her as the wind was always on her side.
"Hello, Gabby. It has been a while." She smiled amusingly.
"I just saw you last night, Kahlia." I rolled my eyes and laughed softly.
"Same thing. I missed you. How is the land of the living?" She asked with a gleamour in her eyes.
She loved the tales I tell her from earth. It was always a joy coming here and talking to Kahlia. Nothing bad ever goes wrong in a dream I am having and I know that Kahlia will always be a figment of my imagination or dreams but in here, to me, everything is real and I intend to make the best of it.
Kahlia says she is from a different planet that is sort of similar to earth, except that they do not really believe in technology. Or time. They just go about their business and do what they need to do without worrying about time and the technology used to corrupt many systems on earth. I definitely want to live in her kingdom Empyrion.
Wait, Empyrion?
"Lia? What are the Kings Vengence?" I asked, recalling the phone conversation Professor Ryze had earlier. She looked at me with huge shocked eyes and then looked off towards space, thinking about something hard.
"I do not ever recall ever mentioning anything about the Kings Vengence before." She said confused.
"No, you did not. But my professor today said Kings Vengence. I want to know what it is." I said as I shrugged.
"Well, the question is not 'what it is'. The question is 'who it is'. He is supposedly some sort of leader of a group under King Jarvis's command." She chose her words carefully.
"What does he do?" I asked curiously. I do not know why but I had this sudden feeling that I had to find out.
"Why the sudden need to know, Gabby?" Kahlia asked suspiciously. She started to glare at me. She never does that.
"I was just curious. I thought since you are from Empyrion, I would ask you." I asked.
Empyrion is most likely not even a real place but I had to ask. But then again, the professor did refer to my friends as if they were from that place.
"Just stop asking about it. It is not important. I have to go." She snapped and ran off, leaving me on the cemetary trail alone.
That was very weird. My surroundings started fading away as I realized that the dream will be over in a matter of seconds.
Suddenly, I was not standing in the beautiful pathway in the cemetary and instead, I am laying down on a sofa, face up. I hear noise around me and can make out the voices of Falcon frustrated as he talked to someone.
Was that....Professor Ryze?
What I know for sure is that I am no longer in the classroom. I kept my eyes closed but listened very intently at the conversation above me.
"That is ridiculous!" Falcon said loudly.
"You already said that, Kings Vengence." I heard the professor say.
Wait. Falcon is this Kings Vengence?
"That is because it really is ridiculous! Don't you think we would have guessed it if Gabby really was the lost princess by now thoughout all those years?" Cedric asked.
"How sure are you of her being Princess Aoki?" Mack asked with panic. Panic? Mack never panics.
Shoots, this must be really serious. The professor did not answer right away and it took all I had in me not to open my eyes and grab him by the shoulders and shake the answers out of him.
Wait. I'm a what?
"Gabby Shadow-Walked." He said slowly, probably trying to catch their reaction. At the pounding silence and inaudible pause, I could already tell that they pretty much got more shook up at that fact. What is shadow walking anyways?
"That is not possible. Shadow-Walkers are not real. They were just used as stories for kids." Mack said.
"Actually, they are pretty much real. But as far as I know, Gabby is the only one I have seen in the last couple of centuries." The professor said.
Centuries?
"So what do we do now? I'm actually lost. If it were some random girl, it'll be easy to handle, but it's Gab. Or do we call her Aoki? Or 'your highness'? This is confusing." Nicolai rambled on.
I opened my eyes and stared at him.
"It is Gabby. Yesterday, today and tomorrow. It will never change. I have no clue who you think I am nor do I want any part of it. You guys are all a bunch of crazy." I say as I sat up and started looking for my boots. My head felt like a bunch of minions are in it hammering my brain. I need to get out of there and back home. Hopefully, I wake up from this terrible dream.
"Your highness, please sit down. You still look pale." Cedric said. I whipped my head around to glare at him.
"Oh? Now you care about me? What happened when I kept trying to talk to you all earlier and you kept ignoring me? What changed then?" I asked harshly. Cedric flinched a little and was about to answer, but Falcon beat him to it.
"We did not know you were the princess then." He stated with a straight face.
I looked at him. Did he really just tell me that? Does he really not have any feelings towards me at all that he has to be that hostile? I was dumbfounded.
I hate him. Truly, utterly hate him.
"I see. Okay. Nice to know how much you care about your best friend." I said straight.
I found my boots and put them on. I ignored the pounding in my head and the feeling of vomit in my mouth as I made my way towards the door leading outside. Freedom.
Before I could grab the door knob, someone was in front of me. I looked up to find Cedric standing in my way to the door. What the? I felt like I just blinked and he is there. I could tell he was reading my shocked expression because he gave me a smirk.
"You are not the only one with abilities, princess." He said. He picked me up and the next thing I know, I was sitting on the couch again. What the hell? I looked up at all of them and found them smiling down at me.
"Please let us explain ourselves first." Suvannah said after a while. I stared at her.
She's in it too? Why did I not see it? I decided I needed answers, however crazy they are. Whatever answers I get, I'm high tailing it out of here either way.
I glared at her and nodded.
"Where do we start?" Jayson asked.
"How about from the beginning?" I snapped. There was no way I would forgive them anytime soon for hiding things from me. That was our rule: No secrets within the group.
"Centuries ago, there was a war between the two God kings. The king of Elycae that time, Acram, was the God of death. The king of Empyrion that time, Jacques, was the God of life." Cedric began to explain.
"Almost like heaven and hell? Or Zeus and Hades?" I asked. He nodded.
"Yes, except that before this war happened, the two King Gods were close. They decided together who gets to live and who deserves to be put down. None of the two thought either of them were better than the other. They were close partners and the best of friends despite living in different kingdoms.
"One night, a young man arrived to the kingdom of Elycae and told King Acram that they heard word from the kingdom of Empyrion that the knights were preparing for battle against the kingdom of Acram under the orders of King Jaques. Meanwhile, the same man just came from Empyrion telling King Jacques the same exact thing against King Acram.
"Confused and worried for their own people, both kings decided to talk to the other and resolve the matter. Before anything could happen, however, the queen of Elycae, Lorena, was murdered in her sleep the night before the two kings were to meet up to resolve the issue. King Acram was filled with grief, sorrow and rage that the first thing he thought was that King Jacques sent in someone to murder his wife.
"After checking all evidences, they found that King Jacques Sword of the Heir was the weapon used to murder Queen Lorena. Blinded with all thoughts of revenge, King Acram called an all out war against King Jarvis and the kingdom of Empyrion. The advantage in this war mainly goes to King Acram because he was the God of Death. King Jacques can give many lives in a blink of an eye but it takes a huge toll on him to take a life away.
"So the King of Empyrion decided to build a wall in the middle of the Dark Forest dividing the two kingdoms. No one has passed the wall because it's supposedly enchanted." Cedric explained.
"Supposedly?" I raised an eyebrow.
He shrugged. "No one has been close to the wall. It's guarded with some scary looking creatures. Or that's how the story goes."
"So why did King Jacques kill Queen Lorena? That's a pretty crappy move, by the way." I commented.
They all looked at each other, carefully choosing their words. I waited impatiently for someone to answer my question.
"The thing is, your highness -" Professor Ryze started to say.
"Stop calling me that. I'm not a princess." I snapped.
"As I was saying, King Jacques did not send anyone to kill Queen Lorena. It was a set up. And technically, you are a princess. The only heir to the kingdom of Empyrion." Professor Ryze said carefully.
I glared at him. "No. I don't want to be. I refuse to be an heir to a kingdom who I have no idea about other than my dreams with Kahlia. Plus, I don't want to be anyone's princess in general."
Except Falcon's.
Oh, shut up, traiterous conscience.
Suvannah snorted in the side. I whipped my head to her. I tried to muster up my best glare but couldn't. "What's so funny?" I asked.
She shrugged. "A lot of things actually. For starters, I can read your mind. Clearly." She smirked. My eyes widened at this and my face flushed in embarrassment. Has she been reading my mind since I first met her? Has she heard all the embarrassing details of the imaginary wedding I had invisioned for Falcon and I before? Is this not the most embarrassing moment ever?
"Yes, yes and yes." She answered smugly.
Oh god, did she really hear that?
"Yes."
I should really stop thinking embarrassing stuff.
"Yup, you should." She answered.
"Oh, shut it, Suvannah. I don't know if I should find that annoying or creepy." I said hotly.
"Both." Jayson mumbled. Suvannah shot him a glare and he started to frantically dust himself off all over, trying to get something off of him. He was yelping and jumping around and as hard as I try to see what he's dusting off, I can't seem to see anything.
"Suvannah. Stop it!" He yelped more. She kept on glaring and continued to ignore him.
"Enough!" Falcon reprimanded with a hard voice. Suvannah turned her gaze towards Falcon and Jayson stopped yelping. I was a bit frightened in the authority I heard in Falcons voice but I was also confused on what went down.
"You know better than to use them just anywhere." Falcon said.
"It's not like we have to hide it around her anymore. She'll know eventually, KV." She said.
"KV?" I asked, dumbly.
"KV means Kings Vengeance." Cedric answered softly.
Falcon sent him a sharp look hot enough to kill. Cedric showed no sign that it bothered him. He just decided to look towards Professor Ryze for help instead.
"Suvanna new is right, Falcon. I in understand if you have top keep hiding this from m her, but now that we know she's the princess-"
"I'm not your princess. I'm sorry." I interrupted rather harshly and went to the door and started to open it.
"Your highness-" Mack stated.
"Stop calling me that! I'm not your stupid princess. Don't stop me from leaving either." I said hotly, opening the door.
"Leave her. She's right. She can't be the princess." Falcon said straightly.
"What? She is. It's plain obvious. What do you mean?" Alexander asked.
"She's obviously not princess material." Falcon shrugged, nonchalantly.
I did not wait for him to explain what he meant because I was already out of there. I ran as fast as I could, my heart slowly but surely shattering, as rivers of years ran down my face.
I could hear someone following me, but I did not care. If what Falcon said doesn't show how he has zero feelings for me, I don't know what does.
