The year is 1981 and the month is March. It was on this year that Sam and Laurel Beck celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Anniversaries are a time to celebrate the long-lasting love and ever evolving relationship between two individuals. This one, however, took a dark turn when the couples daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter went missing two weeks after. Nobody really knew what became of them and their disappearance continued to puzzle the authorities for twenty-five years.
Laurel Beck was a short and somewhat chubby woman with a very contagious smile. On that day she had received a gorgeous necklace to wear around her neck.
Their son-in-law, Jeremy Brault, was a short man with a heavyset build. He was the one who gave Laurel the necklace on that day. He would later go missing two weeks later.
We now return to the date of March 10th, 1981. The family is gathered around and dancing while nostalgic music from the 1950s plays in the back. Sam and Laurel are enjoying themselves. Anybody glancing at them would find a cheerful couple filled with life.
In the middle of the room is a young woman who appears to be in her late teens. She’s a tall girl with stylish brown hair and a lost expression on her face. People can tell that she’s having trouble keeping in step with her dancing partner. This young woman is Julia Beck, the granddaughter of Sam and Laurel. Two weeks later, Julia Beck would end up missing.
The disappearances of their daughter Elise, son-in-law Jeremy, and granddaughter remained a mystery for a long time. Sam and Laurel told the police that their relatives had visited them two weeks prior to the police visit.
They described their daughter Elise as a tall and graceful woman. Her brown hair glowed with even the slightest hint of light. The police watched with difficulty as they struggled to keep their composure together.
ON the day of the anniversary celebration, an abandoned car had been found in a parking lot on the other side of town. Police would later identify it as belonging to the couple’s missing relatives. Smidgeons of blood were found in the car. These smidgeons were enough to turn what had initially started out as a missing persons case into an investigation case.
The missing members of the Beck family were declared dead shortly after and their estate had been inherited by Sam and Laurel. They immediately began their retirement and started to spend much of their newfound inheritance. Sam and Laura had received a total of $320,000 from their daughter. With it they were able to take vacations and Laura bought herself a couple clothes for her wardrobe. Despite the additional money, they continued to live comfortably in the same home.
Sam Beck died in the year 2000 at the age of 94. Laurel Beck would die three years later at the age of 97. Shortly after the death of Laurel, her and Sam’s old home was sold to a young couple. The young couple noticed that the house was quite aged and began to renovate it. This started with demolishing the old basement that smelled awful and had a dirty cement surface.
When the basement floor was dug up, three skeletons were found buried beneath the cemented surface. Dental records revealed that these skeletons belonged to the missing family members.
Next to the bodies was a dirty old envelope. Inside of it was a note that said: “We, Laurel and Sam Beck, hope to be dead by the time his note is found. The bodies you see before you are our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. We killed them and we are happy.”
Although the note listed no reasons for murdering the family members, it was assumed that they did it out of greed.
