“Ever since I moved to Janston, I noticed that everyone in the town would avoid a certain building. I knew it was abandoned, but that was the most I knew about it. It used to be a school, the only features of the building that suggested it used to be a school, were a sign that said, “Janston Elementary School, grades k-5”, the size and shape of the building, and the other features on the school that hinted it used to be one. It looked like it was relatively new, although there were a few spots of dirt and something red covering certain places on the building.

Nobody in the town would even mention the topic of it and if someone from outside would ask about it, they would act like they didn’t even hear them. Even my best friend, Kate, wouldn’t talk about the school no matter if I asked her about it. I tried to look up information about the building online, but there was no information about it. My curiosity of the building felt like it was slowly killing me. It was overwhelming the dreaded day I decided to explore it, to find out its secrets. But before I went to go search the building, I decided to look it up one more time.

So, I made my way to my laptop and opened it. I clicked on my searching page, then typed Jaston Elementary School. It took a couple moments for the results to load but to my surprise, this time there was one result that actually was about Jaston Elementary. I hesitantly clicked on it, feeling nervous about what it could say. Group of teachers turn against student and school, killing 20 students and wounding 40 more!, the title of the article said. I continued to scroll down the article, absorbing the information it was sharing.

“So, this is what happened?” I muttered to myself as I continued scrolled down the article. After I was finished, my curiosity had only grew from the new information I had gotten. I decided I would throw a few things I could need in a bad, then go explore the building. I knew it was probably illegal to explore it, but my curiosity was too much to just ignore the building any longer. I packed a couple of water bottles, snacks, a flashlight, a spare hoodie, and a few other things I could need into a backpack I had laying around. I then threw on a black hoodie over my shirt and went out of my house.

I locked the door behind me, then got into the car to drive to the school. It was about a fifteen minute ride to the elementary school, which I spent absorbed in my thoughts while trying to concentrate on the road. There was a store about a five minute walk from the elementary that I could park my car at, which is what I did. It was a nice walk, the trees with golden, red, brown, and orange color leaves slowly falling off of the trees occasionally. The leaves crunched under my sneakers as I walked towards the school, the wind blowing gently causing a chill in the air.

I shivered a little as a breeze blew through the fabric of my black hoodie. I continued walking until I came up to the school. I made my way slowly towards the doors leading into the school. I hesitantly put my hand onto the handle on the door. I gave it a yank, but the door wouldn’t budge. “Figures, it has been abandoned for a little while. Makes sense to have it locked, so no intruders would get in,” I muttered, trying to figure out what to do now. Suddenly there was a sharp crack noise of a twig snapping under a weight.

I swiftly turned around, looking for the source of the noise. Then I saw her, it was a woman looking to be in her mid-thirties. Her medium, chestnut brown, hair was a mess like she got out of bed and decided to do nothing about it. She was wearing dirt and blood covered clothes, along with parts of her skin being dirt and blood covered. She was standing right in front of me, almost trapping me against the wall. “Hello, darling,” she greeted me with a twisted grin on her face. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I noticed a glint of something metallic in the corner of my vision. I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my lower stomach area, I took in a sharp breath of air.

Despite the excruciating pain I was feeling, I managed to get my body moving away from the woman. Since I was frozen from shock, it was like she was trapping me earlier. I somehow managed to near civilization again, before I collapsed and passed out.

I woke up to see a white room of a hospital. I tried to turn to get a better view of my surroundings, but pain exploded in the area I had been stabbed in earlier. A nurse then walked into the room and looked surprised when he spotted me. “Y-you’re awake,” he stuttered like he was expecting me to still be passed out.

“Erm, yeah,” I told him confusedly.

“You’ve been passed out for three days now, you lost a lot of blood from your lower part of your body and various other places.” He told me, a look of shock still visible on his face. I glanced over my body, to see a few cuts on my legs and arms. My eyes widened in shock as I saw my wounds. “Somebody found you not far from the old elementary school in Janston,” He told me with a glimmer of curiosity in his eyes.

“Yeah, not sharing that story. I’m not ready to,” I told him, genuinely not wanting to talk about it.” I finished off telling the story to an officer, while sitting in a chair across from where she was sitting behind her desk.
