“Run! Hurry! If it’s you, you’ll make it!”
Those were the last words my brother said to me before the guards dragged him away. At the time I didn't know that it would be the last time I saw him, alive.
I ran out of the castle, pushing past guards and into the forest. I had been warned many times to never go into the forest, but right now I had no choice.
If I was lucky, I’d survive a day or two, but the chance was very low. I stopped to catch my breath. The fog was starting to get thicker, I felt a strange presence. It was as if I was being watched, but by whom?
I turned around, no one, it was completely silent except for the sound of the wind. Hah, I must be going delusional. I looked back at the castle that was now nearly swallowed by fog. I’ll be back, I have to.
I continued to walk forward toward the mountains. They would most likely go after me, but wouldn't dare to search the northern mountains. After all they were said to be cursed and these people believe in stuff like that.
I stumbled over a tree stump and hit my head. Great, I was bleeding. At this rate they would find me. I got up and looked at the trees, the branches weren't too high up. If I travel on foot on the ground they’ll definitely see my footprints in the snow.
I dusted off the snow on my coat and walked towards one of the trees. I looked at the rope to my side. Would it break? I heard voices getting closer. I guess I have no choice but to test it out. I grabbed my bow and nocked an arrow, I tied the rope to the arrow. I aimed the arrow at one of the trees, my hands were unsteady, if I didn't get the shot now, I’d be dead.
I took a deep breath…. My hands started to shake, the air was too cold. I would never make it. The voices got louder, footsteps closer. My heart was beating fast, the air was suffocating me. I closed my eyes...637Please respect copyright.PENANAvADv3DLk3e
