Julianna sat on her lounge chair, sipping a glass of cold lemonade on her back porch that overlooked the scenic view of the beach and her home community. She sat pondering new ideas for a poem exclaiming the celebration of achievements and goals.
It was a new year, and she felt contented and jovial about her achievements and the new goals she hopes to chase in this new year. She smiled and inhaled the cool fresh salty air.
She basked in the warmth of knowing she made her family beaming, that's all she hoped to do. Her parents never asked her to be anything but herself and never asked her to do anything that doesn't make her content.
She could hear the laughter coming from the inside where her family - mom, dad, two cousins, uncle, and grandmother - were sitting sharing some love amongst themselves for the holiday. And it brought warmth to her heart and a smile to her lips.
This holiday was a time when her family and self would just relax and spend time with each other. Letting them know you are always there for them.
New year's day was as normal to her as any other but it was also a day she always looks forward to because that meant God allowed her and her family another chance at a new year where they can always try to live better and dedicate it to him.
She sighed and felt peaceful. I love the holidays and my family. She thought. They always make this time of year special and enjoyable.
The day went by quickly but it wasn't boring or unenjoyable. There were snacks and food and drinks shared among the family and jokes and games shared and played to keep each other in that moment of good-humor and bliss.
