Tumbling, falling, I feel the air whipping against my skin; it hurts. Stop, I try to scream. Stop! Let me stop falling! The words don’t come out, mouth glued shut. Thoughts pile up in my mind; they seethe, intertwining and fighting with another, forming a nest of poison that I feel drip slowly through the rest of my body. It hurts.389Please respect copyright.PENANANt5HvYzAyx
Eyes screwed shut, I can’t see the approaching water until I burst through the surface. My eyes fling wide open, stung by the icy coldness; I rip my mouth open to let out a scream, muffled underneath the surface. Bubbles explode around me, and my thoughts writhe sinuously in the liquid, black and unnerving.389Please respect copyright.PENANAuH4xg7LiQ0
Despite the water rushing around me, into me, I can’t focus on it, distracted by watching the black-tainted bubbles rising to the surface. Burning, from the cold, from drowning, spread across my body in waves; my muscles lock up, wanting to thrash and fight but paralyzed by the cold. Everything burns, it hurts, but I just watch the bubbles, hypnotized.389Please respect copyright.PENANA7livepTjCj
At some point, the bubbles reach the surface, and I’m left, drifting and burning in the iciness, all alone. Slowly, the burning fades to a kind of numbness, and despite the water gurgling in my lungs, I feel no pain. In the back of my mind, I am aware that I have died, passed into the afterlife without even blinking an eye, but I can’t care. Dead people don’t care.389Please respect copyright.PENANAkKeNEUpJjk
Slowly, I drift through the depths, the icy depths; my eyes focus on the sunlight ahead, glittering against the surface of the water. It fades, through, as darkness takes over. Pressure builds, wrapping me in a cold blanket, and comfort washes over me. Eventually, I land on the sandy bottom of the sea, wrapped in darkness and cold. There, I spend an uncaring eternity, lost to the depths, uncaring of the sea life slowly taking over my body.
